  1. I REALLY like the guard uniform but I'm not into the uniform for the rest of the corps.
  2. Sometimes holes happen! Like if a member gets really sick that morning and is barfing their stomach up...probably not going to march the show.
  3. I keep going back and forth about how I feel about this show. Obviously the corps is incredibly talented...but for whatever reason it just doesn't do it for me.
  4. At big regionals like this, they usually excuse the drum majors from retreat so that corps that perform earlier in the day can leave early to do laundry or move on to their next location. SA is an exception, as most corps do a free day there the next day.
  5. Presenting their 2017 Production "The Road Less Traveled By..."
  6. I know they picked the show before he took over as corps director, but does anyone else love the irony of "The Force of Nature under the direction of Charles Frost" ?!?!?!
  7. Completely agree - it adds to GE a LOT. This is my first time seeing Academy and I'm enjoying it so much. The intent is so clear - which makes it easy to pick out the more subtle things they are trying to do. Edited typo.
  8. Did anyone else experience their feed getting REALLY fuzzy all of the sudden?
  9. I heard that they were breaking All. The. Time. so it was really hard to manage the equipment working correctly.
  10. She took a picture wearing it - so she seems to be a really good sport about it!
  11. I thought this thread was going to be about the Lafayette show today, as nobody else made one.
  12. Yeah! I noticed it when they did a close up on the rifles during the SA Regional feed. REALLY cool. REALLY creative. They always have these really subtle Easter Eggs in the design though.
  13. I don't know if it's been talked about before - I like the really subtle creativity in this show. For example - the lightning bolt rifles being caught right BEFORE the hornline makes the hit. Almost like "you see the lightning before you hear the thunder"
  14. I meant best intonation due to three hornlines not used to playing together, not the arrangement. Personally it's my favorite arrangement of the piece. (It's the Gail Royer version revised for modern instrumentation in 2012) The intonation thing is totally to be expected, SCVC rarely plays the piece and Madison never does! Trust me - HUGE SCV fangirl here...I know Clowns...I just didn't phrase that very well.
  15. Saw this video of the combined hornlines of SCV, SCVC, and Madison playing "Send in the Clowns" together at SCV family day Monday. Certainly not the BEST version ever...but absolutely a cool moment for those members. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vvn4R11iKOg&sns=fb
  16. Yes...they were assessed in July like I said? I meant the specific date in July varies because it usually co-insides with the first major weekend after the 4th of July. I'm sorry for phrasing that poorly.
  17. Has noone on DCP ever physically seen a show packet? It CLEARLY states that timing penalties are not assessed until July (the specific date changes) EVERY year. If you have a problem with this...make friends with a staff member and get them to propose a rule change and it will be voted on at the Janual. Done. Point Blank. :-)
  18. Yes - they will be posting after finals. The corps staffs also receive a copy each night...so find a friend. ;-)
  19. Exactly this! Generally the West Coast shows have the full panel at this part of the season because the number of World Class shows they host are centered on one weekend (or one show two weekends for BD). (NorCal for SCV/BD/Mandarins - SoCal for PC/BD) so they are only spending this extra money a few times. On the East Coast and Midwest - the corps are sponsoring more shows over a more lengthy period of time - so it's not as big of a return on investment as it is for the West Corps world class weekends. The other factor is audiences in the Midwest generally have more accessibility to see late season drum corps - the ticket sales for the smaller shows increase dramatically as the season goes on. On the West Coast you have ONE weekend to see everyone live and then they leave. The shows have a larger attendance, make more money, and the corps can justify spending extra money on a full panel. It's not a conspiracy...it's supply and demand. :-) (Edited phrasing on a sentence)
  20. I phrased it that way because I wrote about the things I liked and then rescinded because I'm going to wait to see it live. Thanks for the analysis. ;-)
  21. If it really bothers you that much get someone to sponsor a rules change. http://dci271.dci.org/rules/rules_change.cfm
