  1. my husband still thinks beef-a-roo is some kind of regiment joke.....wait until next summer! Ü jan
  2. agreed. it needs to be shut down. no one has positive things to say (except for a few nice comments, here and there....including mine). not productive. insulting judges doesn't get you anywhere, and opinions are like ########....everybody's got one..... Ü jan
  3. impulse may have been started by former vk folks, but they have made a decision not to become the next vk. yes, they have fun, yes, the shows are entertaining but it's not the corps desire to be the "next vk". in fact, the past two seasons have been a more subtle corps. in my opinion they're still developing the identity of the corps. just my .02..... Ü jan
  4. a nurse on tour with the corps, and a conditioning program that goes from pre-season to finals week. at least that's how it was when i toured with them..... Ü jan
  5. scott, for some reason the guestbook link isn't working. any chance of getting it fixed so we can post some thoughts? thanks a bunch! Ü jan
  6. ....i hate sharing a computer...... Ü really jan this time.....
  7. yeah yeah....next time he says that he'll sleep on the couch! ILLINOIS ALL THE WAY....... and for those wondering, olivia is going to march GUARD! Ü jan
  8. huh? the "phantom"? i marched in the corps and i've never seen a "phantom"....are you maybe speaking of "bones"? maybe some of the 90's regiment members can let me know if there is such a creature.....he certainly didn't exist in the 70's or 80's..... Ü jan
  9. *sigh* this is hard news to take. i'll miss him. my parents had told me they hadn't seen him at a show for a while, and they were wondering if i knew anything. well......ya'll know how i'm feeling. there are only three people that have ever been allowed to call me "janny" and live to tell the tale. my grandmother, charlie groh and gene-o (not necessarily in that order, but you get the idea). i'm really going to miss him. Ü jan
  10. at the cinecast, "how will it end?" was followed by, "fourth place"...too bad i was one of only two people that heard it..... Ü jan
  11. btw, we'll be seeing him for the next few years. i believe he's only 18! Ü jan
  12. he also dislocated the same shoulder (i believe) during the performance in san jose. a lot of people (including garry and i) were wondering what happened to him. adam sage explained it to us after the performance. he was alright, just didn't want to distract, as alan stated. truly a "professional" performer. the entire guard did a wonderful job this year with the program they were given. what a great show! Ü jan
  13. really? albert lo hasn't been kind to PR? well, considering where he marched and taught.... Ü jan
  14. i can't believe someone would say something like this. i marched with monte in phantom, was taught by steve there as well. i know steve went on to work with star and cavies. i also know steve as a judge (i was a member of a sr. corps colorguard). he gives credit where credit is due. to say these gentlemen come from horrible backgrounds is WAAAAAYYYYY off base. they have marched, taught, competed in drum corps. more than a lot of DCI judges can say. you may not like them, but attacking their reputations like this is inexcusable. Ü jan
  15. same in vegas. we spoke to friends that were in dublin, ca and mt. lake terrace, wa...they said the same. Ü jan
  16. 83 was in fact the last year the tick system was used. 84 was on build-up sheets. simple as that..... Ü jan
  17. thank you, phantom. i can't say enough about this show. seeing it early on, i knew it was going to be a winner! thanks to the staff for remembering the corps heritage, and adding those little bits that make the "family" proud! we're hoping that you have a great time during this finals week. have fun. you have the show to do it. just go out and have a good time! enjoy. you've proved a lot this year. we're all proud of you! Ü jan
  18. i believe they're referring to the "slip slides" BD was rumored to have. everyone keeps saying that regiment threatened to have them dq'd. i marched in regiment at the time, and i don't remember that being a big concern of the staff. we worked on our show and let the product speak for itself. now, what other corps were told about us and our staff is another thing. i can remember people asking me why i was such a b*tch because i marched in regiment's guard. totally off topic, but it just pisses me off to keep seeing this perpetuated on this board. enough. Ü jan
  19. We played it as a 'marching warmup' off and on.. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> to add to this, the corps played it in their 1969 show. not listed on corpsreps.com, but my father and husband both have a recording of it from fleetwood, midwest 1969. i remember hearing it and calling it "spooky music" as a very small child, in monroe, wi at the cheese days contest. Ü jan
  20. that happened in '86, as said before! to this day it's the reason why i call stillwater "deathwater"...... also, i believe it was in 95 that cavies had a rash of the "green flu" that attacked at camp in barrington.....it was first thought to be food poisoning (those of us cooking knew it was NOT! symptoms showed up too early.) it was a virus that made a fast rampage through the corps. not a pretty sight, i'll tell you. hope all with mandarins are feeling better.....
