I know some will disagree but given that this show was the same summer as one of the worst shootings in US history (PULSE nightclub in Orlando), and given the activity’s close ties to the LGBTQ community, I’m ok with the more peaceful ending.

I’m pretty confident that “meth drumming” is very much a thing already. Decades old, I’d even venture to say.

Ok so my untrained ears wouldn’t really know what good drumming vs meh drumming sounds like but I see a few vets of other corps in the comments that like what they heard so I’m excited!

Speaking of December Camp: do they even still play show music at camps this early? It’s been so long since I’ve been to one, I wouldn’t be too surprised if the format has changed over the years.

Cadets have bounced around from supplier to supplier over the years but if Bluecoats leave then we’ll all know for sure something went wrong. I do seem to also remember SCV having uniform pieces arriving later in the season. Particularly their guard. This has happened a number of years.

Yes I do remember BD’s jackets not making their first appearance (outside of the uniform reveal) until several shows in. Not a great first impression, IMO.

If there were so many issues with the old uniform supplier, then why are so many corps switching to them?

Smart. Major recruiting tool. It’s also smart that they are once again doing all three Dallas area shows and the Houston show. Texas is a goldmine for talent.

Let’s hope we don’t have to find out.

With the tour steadily shrinking and corps folding/going inactive, I’ll just be happy if the activity survives at this point.

I don’t think Bluecoats have toured in CA since 2009. There used to be somewhat of a rotation between the big corps heading to the west coast. I don’t suspect we’ll see that return anytime soon. If ever. 😢

I’ve never had a chance to visit the RCA Dome but I’ve been to AT&T Stadium for a few events and yes, the acoustics are pretty bad. Kinda thought they would’ve tried to address that by now but I guess not.

Just looked it up, turns out they did. I stand corrected. That’s weird that US Bands would have a show there but not BOA or DCI.

This Texas transplant would love to see finals come to Dallas! Houston is also a very reasonable drive!

Not that it would ever happen but I see Atlanta as one of the only real alternatives to Indy that could actually work…in theory, at least. Indoor stadium AND indoor warm up facilities at the GA World Congress Center if they’re needed. Plus, fans can take the Marta train to the stadium so we don’t even have to worry about parking.

That’s fair. For the record: I wouldn’t call Crown’s 2022 season a failure but I would call it a bit of a let down. Especially when you pair it with the string of consecutive 4th place finishes since 2017. It’s pretty much impossible to deny at this point that Crown seems to be stuck in neutral. Thus far, it doesn’t seem to be affecting recruiting so hopefully they can improve next year.

Ok but to be fair, it’s easy to keep all your staff happy when you’ve had a successful season…

Taken into consideration? No. Monitored? Yes.

My single biggest fear is that we will end up with multiple corps playing the same music.

Tonight I’m at the National Battle of the Bands in Houston and I saw an HBCU band use a mobile app with their fans to create a really cool moment in their show! Looks like this idea might catch on in the band world!

It’s funny, I would’ve sworn those were Marcus’ props in their show this year but I don’t think they are. I remember passing by Marcus HS in May and their props were sitting outside the band hall.

And I would love to see Will Pitts replace Dan for finals night post performance interviews.
