  1. I live in Canada and subscibed to FLO though I heard it didn't work up here. I was able to watch quarters and semis. Tonight nothing so I chatted with FLO and they said they didn't have the licence to show it in Canada. Why quarters and semis but not finals? Waste of money and they have effectively cut off all their Canadian fans.
  2. Don't know if this it relivent or not but when CADETS2 was created 4-5 years ago in DCA, Reading Buccaneers lost Gino. Not sure who else Reading lost but they continue to be the dominant corps in that circuit to this day. Cadets2 is doing quite well but haven't beat Reading in one show through thier existence. That's with Colin and Ian onboard with Cadets2 as well.
  3. Sound effects and some of the pit should be the only thing going through the amps and speakers. Maybe part of the tour or a few shows need to be considered unplugged just like they do for professional musicians. This would show who is actually hiding behind their amps and speakers and using them as a secondary horn line. Would give the judges an idea of actually how good these horn lines are. I love sitting in front of a horn arc before shows and listening to pure brass.
  4. I am what you would call a dinosaur and have enjoyed and participated in Drum Corps since the late 1970's. I have no problems with the amps and speakers though I don't feel they really are needed other than to help the pit as I do feel with the increased size of corps horn lines it is warranted even with the change from G to Bb. Hornlines are loud enough on their own. It is sometimes really hard to distinguish what is just a horn line and what is an amplified one online but in person you can tell. I feel corps have taken advantage of the this. As someone else stated, you cant't really say corps A is the loudest anymore. As I watch the Olympics and read this thread about amps and speakers, the more I feel they (amps and speakers) are becoming the steroids and doping of drum corps. Back to my lazyboy and hopefully your babysitter will put you back into your playpen. (Kidding).
  5. I found no humour in DWilliams comment but as you put it some toxicity to it. You can defend his comment. I can defend who he insulted and attacked. Lots of humour though leading up to it regarding the spread between the corps. One thought the spread being good the other no so much. Done with this thread. Great win by Cadets and congrats to Bluecoats on the their drumline taking that caption which I think is the most exciting caption this year to watch.
  6. I'm sure he and the other Cadets fans didn't mean to upset you. Goodnight!!
  7. Ostentatious is a pretty big word. Might want to look it up in the dictionary before using it. Read through any of the over 6000 posts 2000Cadet has submitted. As a former member of the Cadets he is honest and polite with his views on any corps especially his own. os·ten·ta·tious adjective characterized by vulgar or pretentious display; designed to impress or attract synonyms: showy, pretentious, conspicuous, flamboyant, gaudy, brash, vulgar, loud, extravagant, fancy, ornate, overelaborate;
  8. I can't get Sun and Moon out of my head from Empire Statesmen. The original in 1997 took me forever as well. Beautiful arrangement with melophone & baritone solos perfectly matched to the original song! And of course the corps playing to the back field and then turning around with a big hit. Thank you Empire. We will miss you.
  9. Completely agree!. If they were to actually volunteer during the tour they would see how untrue his/her comments are. It is quite frustrating when bandos come on and belittle other corps to make themselves feel oh so much better.
  10. What makes DCA unique and entertaining is the fact that not all corps are cookie cutter like DCI. Each of the above mentioned corps are unique in their own way. I wouldn't want to watch a show with just Bucs and MBI nor would I want to just watch ES and Cabs type corps. Maybe you should focus on DCI instead?
  11. Actually this would be great. Renegades and Empire on the field together as East vs. West. Something along the the lines of what the Cadets did this year. Just as long as they don't do the Notorious B.I.G / Miley Cyrus "Party in the USA" remix. I voted for the Clarence Clemons tribute though.
  12. Hi Cathy, I once convinced a retailer in the US that "Canadian Tire Money" was legal currency.
  13. I have the map but it won't attached to this reply.
  14. Hi Keith, Thanks for mentioning the Burlington Teen Tour Band. It is a gem in a country that doesn't promote or support music education. The success of the Burlington band is due to city support and an excellent booster organization. They were invited and are going to Pearl Harbor this fall for the anniversary to represent Canada and perform at many of the memorial services. Also many of their alumni (mostly drummers) have gone on to march in DCI over the years including Toronto Optimist, 27th Lancers and the Cadets. Their drum staff include a few ex DCA/DCI people. Also VInce Bruni use to design their show once in a while.
