  1. yeah they have their groups pretty much made out already.......it'll just be in the day time between the 2 shows.
  2. haha thanks, that's very good advice, why didn't I think of that. LOL maybe we'll do the Riverwalk if the general consensus thinks its safe to do so. We live in Louisiana so we're used to heat, I don't think that'll be an issue since no members of the colorguard are going I shouldn't have to much complaining about the heat. haha
  3. is the mexican food any good??? and is it a safe walk from the dome??? we can walk over and eat adn have an adult table for the margaritas.
  4. I'm bringing my band to the San Antonio regional. I know a few years back when I marched, in between the day and night show, there was a clinic going on or something....does anyone know if this is still the case?? I'm trying to avoid leaving on the bus and then having to come back and pay the parking fee of 50 bucks again. Do they let you just peruse through the alamodome between shows??
  5. Quite a few people from Lafayette are still involved. Miguel Gonzales, Nic Broussard, Alex Riviere, Ben Frederick, Jordan Sonnier, Jeff and Bradley Webb, Josh Robichaux, Derek Badon, myself and prolly some more others have marched Spirit. Beau St.Pierre *05 trumpet solo*, Marc Martin, Jordan Sonnier, and some others have done Cavaliers. Tim Darbonne did Blue Devils this past season and Joe House has been center snare at Phantom for quite some time. Jessica Speer did Crown and also Phantom. I know I'm probably missing a bit more too. This is just within ULL population. I'm sure LSU has quite a bit of people marching today too along with a few I know at Nicholls in Thibodaux.
  6. having only seen them at the memorial bbq and the annapolis video....if you look at the recaps, the colorguard is scoring really low which in turn will affect all visual captions. get the colorguard scoring higher and well visual captions will definitely rise as a result. not to say the drill isn't dirty too, but I think colorguard is where it's hurting most.
  7. pour some water on this fire........this is a friendly activity with many great people..........competition is competition..........it isn't that Spirit isn't as good as previous years, but more and more corps are getting really good.......Spirit is one of those, along with Colts, Blue Stars,Academy, etc. etc. etc. rut roh, I do agree with you that not all great performers make good teachers. My trumpet professor in college was a phenomenal performer, but lacked in the teaching department. *BIG TIME* great guy though..........I think many people like myself just know Chip and how amazing he is not only as player, but a teacher. I learned more about trumpet in 03 on tour than I did in my entire college career up to that point. People are quick to defend things they love so everyone can take a chill pill and enjoy this extremely stiff competition. It's gonna be a heckuva summer.
  8. to be honest, this is one of the better reviews I've read......great job
  9. i chose neither but after hearing phantoms APD I'm almost tempted to say Phantom......but I'm sure my first answer is right. I can't believe how tight this is this year.
  10. I think that is just there way of insuring multiple people don't use the same account. Mine did that the other night, I forgot exactly what I did, but it asked me if I wanted to reset or something like that....I did and all was fine. It wasn't a big pain at all.
  11. you can buy me a season pass subscription.....or Fan Network....whatever it's called now.
  12. 3 that stick out most to me are Cavies 2000, SCV 2004, and Phantom 2006. This is also coming from a brass guy. I'm pretty sure those 3 actually won the percussion caption those years also.
  13. SCV 2004......semifinals performance was UNBEFREAKINGLIEVEABLE HM: Star 90
  14. yeah you are right, I thought I had heard it. Just verified it on corpsreps.
  15. so I'm sitting here listening to this amazing and beautiful piece of music and of course I have to wonder has anyone ever done it on the field??? If not, it would be a beautiful ballad and I hope one day someone will do it.
  16. Spiirt 1986....definitely a favorite in my ipod
  17. opening statement of glassmens beethoven show......just the first APD of the season. The rest of the recordings and live performances sounded good.
  18. I'm very surprised that some of this weather here in Louisiana hasn't moved there. It has been raining nonstop for about a week now. As far as the topic on hand, I've only heard two groups so far this year and only one was live. I was impressed with everything I saw and heard from Spirit this past weekend. The other was through the phone at Phantom........phone sound isn't a very great quality but what I heard sounded really sweet.
  19. just in case you missed it, there is now a show in Lafayette, Louisiana.......It's at UL-Lafayette Cajun Field. Should be a great show site.
  20. New Orleans is pretty much the only area still in this condition.....housing has not been a problem here for either of the 2 shows....and even before Katrina, with the exception of Bonnabel High School, I don't think any school in the area hosted a corps. Bonnabel, although not a great housing site to start off with, is more than likely still able to host a corps.
  21. my take on all this is that, Spirit is doing it's best to satisfy all types of audiences. Everyone loves a great hornline Some people don't care about a indepth description of a show but like to see a heck of a performance Some people like a sophisticated concept and a textual connection to the performance. Can't satisfy EVERYONE, but as long as they have a blast performing what there given and the crowd digs the performance, that's where it really matters.
  22. wow this thread is hilarious.....I'm glad cause we can all have sense of humor amongst all of the competitiveness of who is better than the other. LOL
  23. ####### ahhhhhhh well I heard all of the new ending....video has been great and froze the last minute of the show.
