DCI Minnesota - 7/11
drumcorpsfever replied to chadwick's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Another outstanding DCI show by the Blue Devils. I'm not sure it is outstanding by BD's progressive standards though. They look like BD, sound like them ... and I think that may be problematic for them this year. They could very well win it, I'm just not sure this show is going to be enough for them by the time the dust settles in Indy. -

Anyone besides me hearing an SCV version of the use of electronics similar to Bluecoats? -
Ok. When all was said and done today, I couldn't stand not seeing the MN show. I originally said I wasn't buying the netwrork but I caved around the time Boston was on. I plunked down the cash and bought in. To my surprise, I was impressed early on by the video quality and lack of missteps in streaming. However, I have experienced a few hiccups while Phantom was on - nothing at all as poor as last season though. So, I'm in. Hook, line, and sinker! INT is on. Time for ice cream! PS - I changed my vote. Yes and Yes

Carolina Crown 2015

He's a fine soloist. He can play whatever he likes just as long as he doesn't sing! But, he does play on a flugel :> -

When DCI sells a DCI MN Regional Patch, it's a regional. If it walks likes a regional, talks like a regional... it's a regional! DCI says so!!! -
DCI Minnesota - 7/11

Forecast continues to ###!!!! Reminiscent of 2010 when many of us spent part of the evening in the restrooms as storms passed through MN. DCI needs to find a domed stadium for this regional. As much as I prefer outdoor stadiums, there is too much on the line for a large regional to get rained out. Minnesota has not been kind to us. -
Carolina Crown 2015

Oh heck yes! My favorite too! PS - folks, the world will soon figure out this will rank as one of the best of the year! Crown is coming! Groans in the stands last night when Crown was announced in 2nd to BD. Incredible show and this is just one of many tremendous features in Inferno. -
Criticizing the "Kids"
drumcorpsfever replied to Brian Porter-Szucs's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
To the OP: Do you think DCP should be free to criticize even more? And many wonder why so many of the "kids" stay away from DCP? Some of you may not like it, but it's the truth. Some of the "kids" that are in the activity that we love so much view DCP as being a toxic wasteland. -

Hi there. If this has already been posted, my apologies. But I just came across this from the other night. Crown is performing with kids from their band clinic. Sounds great! Really speaks well for the great instruction Crown has! http://youtu.be/d9484IBJ9IE -

Captions are very encouraging for Team Crown! Percussion is the most improved section of the top corps this year. Kudos Crown. Visually very close tonight, GE and brass within striking distance. King George came close to eating crow tonight. I have a feeling Crown will catch 'em next time. The gap is closing! -

Just when I was starting to like George, he says something arrogant and pompass again. C'mon Crown! Beat the Cadets tonight just to bring King George a little closer to Earth! -
Fan Network 2015
drumcorpsfever replied to Old Corps Guy's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I agree with your disagreement! Fan Network over the past number of years has been a bargain. My membership always included the Blu-Ray and tons of shows over the years, and VOD and Live. Now, even a DCI rep would have to agree that we simply don't get as much value anymore. This is the first year in a long time that I have not purchased the membership. -
I've got an idea: Let's see, going to dci.org now... okay, now I click on "Mulitmedia" and watch these 2 shows on the Fan Network... DOH!

We go from "beautiful weather" to "tornados" for the forecast for the same day. Sounds a bit like Ohio weather to me. -

They're triple-tounging on a the move. This brass line plays so well either while parked or with the pedel to the metal. -
Comparing scores from different shows? This is from DCI's Competitive Edge:Simulated Top 12: Based on averaging total scores over the past week, the top 12 corps at World Championship Finals will potentially be: 1. Blue Devils 2. The Cadets 3. Santa Clara Vanguard 4. Bluecoats 5. Carolina Crown 6. The Cavaliers 7. Phantom Regiment 8. Blue Knights 9. Blue Stars 10. Madison Scouts 11. Crossmen 12. The Academy I would agree that it seems closer than usual this year. Hopefully will remain anyone's guess until the last note is played in Indy!

Your Favorite Shows of Early 2015
drumcorpsfever replied to DrumManTx's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Favorite ballads this year: 1) Crown - one of the best ever! It's up there with Bloo's "Hymn" last year. Crown's sound and mood created by the ballad is stunning. Incredible! 2) Bluecoats - Woods combo of Bon Iver and Kanye. Very cool sound. I love the background trumpet soloist during the bari solo. Beautiful work. -
