  5. Has anybody heard anything about the Barmun Festival on June 27th? They cancelled our (Cabs Alumni) exhibition last week citing lack of funds from supporters. Now I see the show info is gone from the DCA schedule. It now shows the 27th as TBA. I remember them having $$ trouble last year. Seems like it's happening again.
  6. Three big drum corps shows at Clifton Stadium this summer. The Cadets on July 5th, Then a week later on July 11th the Caballeros Grand Prix. Followed by the Bushwackers show in August. Great for Drum Corps fans but I'm just wondering how well the local residents will deal with it all. They have complained before wiith just the Grand Prix going on there. They'll really be up in arms this summer. Not that I care.......just saying!
  7. That's the guys that drive. For some reason the crew that rides the bus like to get home ASAP. There are times when we go non-stop back to Hawthorne. At least we're supposed to stop on the way back this trip. Maybe we'll run into each other in the little time I'll have before the show. Have a safe trip.
  8. Thanks W, I quess I'll just have to grab something in Hawthorne to eat on the bus. It wont' hurt me to go without eating for a few hours :-) The after-show party sounds like fun but we're on right before intermission. As soon as we change and load the truck will be heading back to the Garden State.
  9. I'll be coming to the show on Saturday with about 100 friends of mine. Anybody know what the dining situation is in Red Lion? I'm hearing that the school is in a pretty isolated area. Should I pack a lunch?
  10. No Kingston Show....... That was a favorite of mine. Heard the sponsor was dealing with a few issues. Also heard they will try to get things together and bring the show back next summer. Another good show that's gone is the Lewisburg,PA show at Bucknell.
  11. BigW, I believe the Grand Prix will be back at it's old home this year Clifton HS on Rt46. That should take some of the stress out of the trip for you. But there is no Carvel. I guess you have to take the good with the bad.
  12. Don't have much info yet. Except that it's on our (Cabs Alumni) schedule. But the Muchchos are planning a show May 9th in New Brunswick,NJ
  13. Hi Ray, It appears to me that the crowd gets smaller every year at the show Saturday night. I don't know what the reason is. By going on last, we get some of the other alumni corps members in the hall to watch us. Years back the show always soldout. The parade is another story all together. The crowd is great. We stopped and played a few numbers at the reviewing stand. I didn't march the parade this year. So I got to see everybody at the reviewing stand. All the corps looked good. As for a favorite, I would have to say Boston Crusaders impressed me the most. Looked good in their new uniforms and sounded great.
  14. That was it! It was a great weekend. Got to talk to a lot of people from the various alumni corps present. Something I don't get to do much of during the DCA shows. The weather was good. The food was great. And the music was awesome. For those who could not make it there. Here a video of our performance Saturday night. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb-hScQh5AE&feature=youtu.be Big John
  15. I haven't seen any mention of the upcoming Plymouth parade and stage show. If you like alumni corps, Plymouth is the place to be this weekend. The parade is nice and the stage show is great. The hall is not very big so you get your drum corps up close and personal. You'll get to see about eight corps at last count. The weather forecast for Saturday is 35 degrees and sunny! If you want more info check out www.usathanksgiving.com Hope to see some of you there.
  16. Here's my prediction for Kingston..... We're all gonna get wet !!
  17. I'll help you out with that Fred. The Cabs Alumni will be rehearsing in Clifton starting around 10am before heading over to the show. Location: Oak Ridge Park (Eddie Mayo Field) 1055 Clifton Ave.
  18. Caballeros Alumni Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport Hotel And Westin Hotel & Resort
  19. I haven't seen any myself. All I have are photos mostly black and white. I have some audio recordings from the years I marched.

It was a little too early for video cameras back then. There might be some old 8mm films in a shoebox in someone's closet somewhere.

  20. I would try X1122 during the normal hours. If that fails, here is a link to the ticket order flyer. You can then fax in your ticket request if you want. http://childrenshome...h_excelsior.pdf If all else fails just show up early and buy tickets at the booth in the parking lot. There are usually good seats still available then.
  21. For anybody who is interested. Videos from the Plymouth Stage Show are now up on YouTube. Just about every corps is there now. To get you started here is the link to the Caballeros Alumni Performance. Enjoy!
  22. I'm not sure if the link to the website came thru OK so here it is again. http://www.pactv.org/thanksgiving-parade That will get you to the parade videos.
  23. For All who were in the Plymouth Parade or those who missed it. Videos of the parade are now on the PACTV website. Here is a direct link to the parade videos. http://www.pactv.org/thanksgiving-parade They split it into three parts. Part two is where the actual parade coverage starts with Cabs Alumni doing the opening ceremonies. Enjoy!
  24. I just checked the website and Sac is still listed in the performance order on there.
  25. For anybody who can't make to Plymouth this weekend. You can watch the parade on the web. Heads-up for Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni fans. We will be doing the opening ceremonies at the reviewing stand this year. We will not be marching in the parade itself. Here's the info...... America's Hometown Thanksgiving Parade PACTV will be covering the America's Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration (AHTC) Parade on Saturday, November 17th.
