  1. Having corps like these guys do well is good for the activity. Creates more parity too. If local corps are competitive now, members who may want to move on to another corps stay put. It helps with member retention, souvie sales, and the ability to draw in a talented staff/up and comers. It helps engage alumni in terms of volunteering, offering their talents in the off season in terms of "projects" on equipment trailors or food kitchens, as well as $$$ donations.
  2. South Florida in July. I'm in St.Aug and it rains almost daily.
  3. I saw where Spirit was EPL at like 12:30, depart for show at 2:30. Not much time for work today.
  4. Dig the show. This, SCV, BD, SOA, BC are my favorites so far. Oh, and let me also add Crossmen. Can't leave them out.
  5. Rain should be a non issue at this point.
  6. Will we see an 80.5 tonight? Hopefully, the rain holds off.
  7. The corps director for SoA is the music director at Tech and percussion caption head is percussion director at UGA and neither field was available...uncertain on specifics as to why.
  8. I was told to expect the same in Orlando by someone who lives there.
  9. How were the shows so far? I didn't know corps added vocals...?
  10. No idea what you're referring to, just passing along what I know.
  11. From my experience, people who don't care what you do because they aren't in your business, and don't put your nose in theirs. As long as you aren't hurting other people, do what you want... they don't like big corporate government and being told what to do. They go to church and mind their own business, and they like to cook and have BBQ's. They also love sports and college football reigns. Some of the nicest people you'll ever run across.
  12. They will not medal this year. But what do I know...
  13. That is some GE...I want more of that.
  14. My read so far on top 6...Cavies 6th. Cadets 5th. Crown 4th. SCV 3rd. BD 2nd. BC repeat. Could argue SCV 2nd and BD 3rd. I can see Madison in at 12th. Phantom at 9th. Boston 7th. Toss up between Bones and BK at 8th. Blue Stars 10th...but I think Bones 10, Stars 11. Now, if Phantom doesn't clean it, I see 11th. BC takes GE/Visual . BD Guard. SCV drums. Crown may take Brass, And the spread between them and SCV is razor close... 1 tenth?
  15. I know one who is working on an electronics issue & cleaning visual.
  16. Well said. Had the same experience. The following year had a chance to be with a corps who did win gold, my heart wasn't in it and decided not to march. To this day I don't regret that...much rather have the experience over just trying to medal.
  17. Fan favorite. 98% of the experience is not performing, not spent in uniform...so, I'd take the crowd which would enhance the experience. No way I'm gonna put in that work just for the subjective opinion of a hand full of people.
  18. If that were true then one corps should score higher bc the BOD President and CEO of Lone Star Percussion is sponsoring numerous shows this summer.
  19. For the most part, I believe the judges have integrity and score as they see it. Cavies scored low when they were down, Madison missed finals, Boston is being rewarded, as they should. What I don't understand is how Content can be say a 68 one night and a 63 the following. That's the subjective part I guess.
  20. It's all good. Some of the responses were quite funny. I don't take things too serious.
  21. Lonestar has been very happy to sponsor numerous shows.
  22. Are they based on if the judge understands your design, or are they judging on content, execution and achievement. I see a lot of people say, I'm not sure what their show is about...so, is it that or is it how they perform It?
  23. Doing 2 parades back to back in the middle of the day in downtown Atlanta, grabbing food, then heading to the housing site for a run through, shower, EPL, then to the show. Not my fondest memory.
