  1. btw if anyone is interested there are front ensemble audition music, staff announcements (not all but a few) and a message board that have been put up fairly recently. www.kiwaniskavaliers.com
  2. In 03 and in 04 I lost 30 pounds...In 05 about 15lbs ...being drum major didnt help much with my excercise plan. :(
  3. Yea those were good times. Those other notes would sound better if I had a real horn though. There were a couple of variations that I did in rehearsals there was triple F (an octave higher) the double with with lip trill held over forever and the one time when my face was beat from playing it a crap load of times was the Held over Pedal F That im pretty sure caused some damage to the dm podium. =P On a side note I'm glad to see that someone remembered that solo. It was my favorite and the most fun from the 3 years I marched. Maybe I in a few years I can look into doing it up again in a senior corps ;)
  4. Hands down that G Maj #11 at the end of Star 93 Goosebumps everytime
  5. If I remember correctly we are still auditioning for the pit at Kavaliers (I think we have 1-2 spots open) I would suggest checking it out...and check out the new website as well ;) www.kavaliers.com Tell them Alex sent you ;)
  6. not as sexy as they guy who's on the FAQ page =P
  7. When the crowd gives you a standing ovation, the announcer announces you as if the show were done, and you STILL have another minute and a half to go! This happened I think in Louisiana in 2003 My favorite memory from marching Kavaliers '03. =)
  8. 1997 phan- ah crap! =P I'm a fan of the 2002-2003 crossmen good tunes good shows overall.
  9. The sax was a prop. He came out before mysolo pretending like he was gonna play it and i push him out of the way give him a kick in the ### and play my baritone solo. Edited for my dumb self not being able to type
  10. you're not alone on that one. ::stands next to soprano3:: =P
  11. My Favorites were Bluecoats and Crown very good balnce and alot of cool stuff in the bluecoats book
  12. I honestly think you should strive to do both....i mean why not? Isnt that what your supposed to do? =P <- proud to say he plays the heck out of his book and can still pop ot a few "choice" notes if needed to. ;)
  13. Nah for me nothing kicks more ### on euph than a schilke 59 or 60 b**bs ...I love playing on those pieces when I've got low-mid parts on the field. Just make sure your horn can handle it. Plus you have to be used to a piece like that in order to play it well on a differnt horn... so i say if your experienced enough to do it go for the biggest piece your horn can handle. For example I use a 5g when I play lead it gives me the range and the projection that i dont get out of a schilke 51D...plus for me the intonation is better.
  14. Kiwanis Kavaliers - BARITONE!!!! (upper lead\soloist) :)
  15. Have you tried sitting up straight with a similar posture as you would when you are standing and playing. There is no reason you should have a thinner sound. I believe this is because you are doing someting different when you are sitting down. Make sure you aren't changing or constricing the air stream. Just think of it like standing up with your legs bend all funny :P
  16. Maybe he means he actually played through the center of the horn and it was in tune so the horn just rang for the first time?
  17. 2002 BD had a nice big sounding contra line and they had some hard parts <from what i hear on the recordings>
  18. Ive written the melody out several times.(usually when im bored and have run out of inspiration). if anybody has finale or cakewalk i can send it to you. and if not it's in the Bb blues scale for the most part <if that helps>
  19. I also will be auditioning for regiment (as well as magic and boston cause they're close to me) on baritone but I'm also considering the auditioning for conductor as well. does anyone have any advise for me? (about Conducting auditions.)
  20. as far as I know the range depends on the player. I could be wrong though.
  21. :drooling: I wish I had one of those when I was in school.
  22. I love shotgun. I but like the straight through version not the 1...12..123.etc. etc. version
