  1. That's just part of the game now if you want to be a competitive drum corps. The last corps to win without extensive props was what, Crown 2013? Don't hate the player, hate the game.
  2. It's not like April, Jay, Tom, and Jeff haven't had any success since the 90s. The Cadets were medaling pretty often earlier this decade until most of these folks left
  3. John Bilby is who baby Cadets want to be when they grow up.
  4. One person would pay and then everyone would know
  5. I'd rather the corps shut down rather than bringing a rapist back for the sake of competition.
  6. I'm sure your handful of unexperienced interns will do an amazing job. There is a difference between streaming a live event and being able film hours and hours of content that is then edited together. You've only got one shot at a live event. You are delusional if you think this is the case for something like a drum corps show You're right, I don't, but the people at DCI actually making the deal do and I trust them to do their jobs better than some guy on the internet saying they could just film Finals on an iPhone
  7. You're doing a lot of hand waving and making up numbers here. You have no idea what the details of DCI's Flo deal are and I think you are vastly oversimplifying what it takes to live stream an event the size of a DCI show
  8. Underwater has to be the hardest place to perform
  9. For a corps that in the past decade has come in 9th more than they have come in 1st in the past decade maybe a comfortable 5th is something to be proud of. Everyone ahead of them this year has won more championships than them in the '10s. After a rocky decade the Cavaliers seem to be turning things around, especially considering the increased level of competition
  10. Seems unlikely but it would be a huge upset at this point
  11. That article is a month old and isn't about a pedophile
  12. Maybe if part of his job is doing these interviews he shouldn't be speaking off the cuff while doing them?
  13. Subtract 10 years from all the dates and change a few words and this post would fit in perfectly 15 years ago
  14. The irony of complaining about internet tough guys by saying you'd physically assault them
  15. I felt that in general he didn't seem well prepared for the interviews during semifinals this year. He seemed to be winging it to varied degrees of success with the Spartans question being the most egregious example of a poorly thought out question. He is one of the public faces of DCI, I don't think it is unfair for the fan base to have opinions about whether he should keep doing the interviews. I think firing him for one bad day/question is a bit extreme but I don't think he is beyond reproach from the DCI fan base either.
  16. Essentially he asked the Spartan's drum major (in front of the entire Semifinals crowd and everyone watching on Flo) if their championship should have an asterisk next to it because BDB and SCVC weren't at finals
  17. I, in fact, have misspoken before. I have also been correctly called out when I've misspoken and giving public interviews isn't even a part of my job description. It was an amateur move from a professional and has been rightfully called out.
  18. It happened fairly frequently. I blindly ran into a judge my first year while back marching. I marched 3 years and I feel like there were at least one or two judge collisions each year just in the corps I was in.
  19. Oh please, "not acceptable" 🙄 I want the corps to be back at the top as much as anyone and way more than most people but get over yourself.
  20. Don't feel sad for the kids, that's kind of condescending. When a corps is around for 85 years there are competitive ups and downs. They don't have to be the measure of a seasons success. A year and a half ago we didn't know if The Cadets would ever take the field again, and a few hours ago the 85th version finished another great season even if the competitive result wasn't as high or the show wasn't as well received as past years. As an alumni I'm proud of the corps and I certainly hope the members feel like they had a successful season and are looking forward to next year when those who haven't aged out get another chance to build upon this year, just like the corps did after 86, 89, 91, 99, 04, 06, and 10.
  21. That sucks but thanks for the heads up, I just now bought the monthly subscription since it was still available for me.
  22. Weird, I checked from my desktop, the app, and the mobile website and they all show the monthly option. The screen you are on is screen 3 of 3 for me, screen 2 of 3 is where I picked the plan, but my 3rd screen also has a "change plan" link under the "$150.00 paid yearly" line that takes me back. I'm logged in via Facebook rather than directly with a username/password, that's the only other possible difference I can think of other than them slowly rolling this change out to all customers and me being lucky... I should probably do my monthly payment now since Finals is less than a month away so I don't lose the chance
