  1. So because their drill is not innovative...it is not effective or is not a fan favorite? I would agree that Cavaliers drill was innovative in 2000-2002, but I would argue that they have done 'relatively' the same drill since, with one or two new moves put in. I'm sure this will stir the pot....
  2. Phantom Regiment was 1.2 down to Cavaliers at San Antonio a week ago and 2.6 down to the Blue Devils Phantom Regiment was 0.075 down to Cavaliers last night at Murfeesboro and 1.275 down the Blue Devils. And there is still 2 weeks left until finals! I'm not sayin' but I'm sayin'... And yes, I am a Phantom Regiment honk/homer/phan. I would love to see them win, but if they don't they still put on one hell of a performance.
  3. By your same logic, Regiment is closer to Cavies then Crown in to Regiment. Who knows, maybe Crown will be in 2nd tonight and then all the Crown honks will be everywhere. And maybe, just maybe, BD will fall to Crown, Cavies, or Regiment. Then what?!?!?!?!?!?!
  4. I never said that BD couldn't clean up their music "homie". I simply was stating that if PR can clean it up visually, they will be in an excellent position to win. As other people say on here....you have a very nice corps too. Chill out.
  5. PR has every shot at winning this year and here's why I believe it: Sweeping all music captions and deservingly so. Been a long time coming in my opinion. (Just a tad biased here ) Visual is their weakness, but here's the key: GE Vis is third place, but Visual sub captions overall were 5th. So, the drill and visual design package is effective even with "dirt" in the feet. Clean it up and the GE Visual will go up as well. If it were reversed (Visual 3rd and GE Vis 5th) then there would be a major problem because a relatively clean marching corps can't be effective. We'll see what happens tonight at Atlanta, but if these scores hold true, PR is in an awesome spot to be in. Now, for my conspiracy theory... I believe that this is the weekend (Murfeesboro/Indy historically) where, if slotting does exist, it takes place. Not neccesarily in the sense that Corps A will get 4th now and at finals, but more like the judges will say, "BD and Cavies, 1-2, then PR, CC, Cadets, will compete for 3-5, and SCV and Bluecoats will compete for 6-7" Basically, major leaps will happen tonight and then for the last two weeks they will be grouped to fight for certain spots. Contenders for the title will be separated, all the way top to bottom. That's my personal conspiracy theory (aka $0.02)
  6. Disgustingly true. And I hope they never give in
  7. Remember, as a Gene Monteraselli (sp?) told us before....Regiment has to be 10 points better to win by .1 I'm still a bit biased, but no way a 2 point spread between Cavies and Regiment....
  8. I'm pretty sure Regiment was not at Kalamazoo.....they were out west. They did win at Show of Shows by 2 points or so...that might be it?
  9. luvs me sum mello!, I don't think that you have to be a part of an organization to know that what they do can convey emotion. I do not have to be a member of the New York Giants football team to know that they played with emotion in the superbowl (which ultimately led to their victory). I do not have to be a member of the Chicago Symphony to feel the emotion of Mahler, Chopin, or any other composer. I don't have to have experience playing the piano to feel the hurt and longing of Beethoven in Moonlight Sonata. That said, I don't have to be a member of the Cavaliers to know that they do not move me like Phantom Regiment does playing Ave Maria or Canon or Shostakovich, or when Vanguard did the Y-pull in '99 or when Southwind played Lengends of the Fall in '00 or when the Scouts played their 95 and 96 shows. I have felt very little emotion from the modern day Cavaliers ('01 and on when the new staff came and changed the approach to playing for the corps) except for the '00 and '04 shows. Emotion is conveyed and it is percieved by the listener/viewer. Again, some are moved by the Cavaliers. I am usually not. We will agree to disagree. TRSTR13, that is what i meant to say and i guess i came across to bluntly.
  10. I agree, playing loud does not necessarily mean you are playing with emotion. That said, Cavaliers do not play with emotion. They play perfectly inside their box. And it works for them. It works so well they have won 5 times since 2000, but I have been bored to death with almost every show of theirs since 2000 also......
  11. Maybe I missed this topic before, but, does anyone know what the judging panels will be for quarters, semis and finals? Would be nice to know. :P
  12. I love you. Absolutely perfect post and it sums up the entire philosophy of the corps IMO.
  13. I always wish I could've gotten the "Got Sak?" Shirt.
  14. What about the picture of the '97 line. I believe it is during a victory concert. Very awesome picture of a line of Buicks Edit: Found it!!! http://www.regiment.org/images/photogaller...antombaris.html
  15. I wish I were 6 Hours younger...could've had my bonus year last year. I suppose 4 years was enough. Just had to let everyone know how much being born on May 31st sucks...
