DCI Eastern Classic - Saturday Aug. 6, 2016

Not mad at you at all. Just stating why I think Madison needs to fight for the spot if they want to perform on Saturday night. -

ALL of the corps are excellent this year. From top to bottom, they all are very strong. Do you know why I subscribe to the "12 are in finals" philosophy? Hmmm. Because that's what it currently is. If DCI wanted to change to top 10, or 8, or 14, or whatever-- then fine. But the clear margins at this point is the top 12, so there should be 12 corps performing on Saturday. Regardless of who is in 13th. -

The "10 point argument" is irrelevant! At this point in DCI there is no ranking system based on how many points you are from the leader. Even if the 13th place corps was a 95-- it still doesn't fall into the "finalist" category. -

If Madison "deseves" to be in finals then they better earn the spot! If they are 13th, then it will be a very good 13th place, but they didn't deserve nor earn the finals spot! I'm not sure how much more clear this could be... -
This little Cavies blurb went under the radar

You and I are sharing a brain right now! (See my post above) I literally didn't read yours before I posted mine. How funny. -

I disagree with you. Many are hailing the Bluecoats' show this year as the "new direction" for DCI. Their show is not at all dependent upon gender. Literally the only thing I can think of are the female color guard members "swooning" over the flugelhorn solo. Are Cavaliers (and Madison) more limited in terms of show deign by being all male? A little, yes. But there are a ton of effective concepts that they can still execute. -

No. Just... No. This is a competition. Yep, it is close in the 12th range. If corps don't want it to be close, then make your design stand out. Or clean the #### out of the show. 12 make it. Period. -
I really appreciate the work the members are doing. You can tell they are really passionate and very talented. It just is unfortunate watching a show design that does not allow them to be as successful as they could be. Congratulations to the members and the teaching staff for their hard work this season. Design staff... I hope there are changes.

This saddens me greatly

If you put a microscope over every organization-- drum corps, academic organizations, NFL/professional sports, churches, government (ha!) you'll find inequalities and things that needs improving. -
Here's how I see it. This is just my opinion based on what I've been seeing. Crossmen are in. (Probably 10th. Maybe 11th.) Academy are in. (Probably 11th. Maybe 10th. Maybe 12th.) Boston and Madison are fighting for the 12th place spot. I honestly give the nod to Boston. Troopers and below are too far out. Great shows, though.

I can definitely Boston over Madison
-
I wouldn't be concerned. It happens like that some nights.

Super cool that Jersey surf gets to play with them. Side note- crazy that Bridgemnia was already 4 years ago. Seems sooner -

We would still know precisely what they are without the visual clutter of the rotation.
