Just got back from catching a rehearsal at Gardner Webb (which is just down the road from me). Percussion sound even better than the videos posted earlier this week, in my uneducated opinion. Brass gave me chills a few times, and is super powerful at all dynamic levels (And there are some really interesting softer passages). It's going to take seeing this show many, many times to see all of the interesting things going on at the same time. At a bunch of different moments, I didn't know where to look because every different group on the field was doing something cool and interesting at the same time. As always, fabric choices will be interesting, but maybe not just for Pants Hashtags this year.

I think what the OP was getting at is that 15,000 total means less than 7,500 seats on the press box side of the stadium. From pictures, it looks like the seats wrap around one end zone, so probably somewhere in the neighborhood of 4500-5000 (that's a big WAG on my part) sellable seats. The good news is if football catches on at UNCC, it looks like there's hope for the future. From the 49ers Website:

I'm about an hour and a half west of Charlotte, so this makes it a 6 hour round trip for me instead of a 3 hour trip, the day after I've done about 8 hours in the car to get to Atlanta. I got the survey, and gave them similar feedback. I'm not saying I wouldn't make the drive, but it's much less likely in any sort of even mildly bad weather conditions.

So, it looks like DSM is an agency that represents some female golfers and DCI run by John DeNovi. (https://twitter.com/DSMsportsmktg) His LinkedIn profile says he used to work for DCI, and it looks like the DCI website lists him as DCI Director of Business Development, at least in an article I found from 2010. There's less information out there on The Art Department, Inc. but maybe someone can do more digging than I've done in the few minutes I had to search before heading off to sleep.

I'd like to see a Corps tackle some Christopher Tin charts. I'd be very interested to see how the vocal/orchestral focus could be handled by an awesome brass arranger. A show built around either of his song cycles would be awesome, or even just a Baba Yetu reference somewhere in a show would be interesting.

Well done working the black and white/color change from the Wizard of Oz into the video feed, Colts! That was pretty awesome, though I don't believe the judges are watching are monitors, so probably no extra GE points for thinking of it, and convincing the video team to do it.

I've heard a rumour about what they might be working on from a friend in another corps. I'm very much looking forward to seeing if the rumour comes to fruition.

Uh oh. Just passed two broken down charter busses on 85 N, the route between ATL and CLT. Looked like they couldn't even pull off on the shoulder. Gonna be a long night for some corps, it seems.

Can't hear the scarecrow narration at all live. Not even a little bit. Good thing I've seen it before where the narration was audible.

Made it just in time for the Mandarins. Kind of regretting my last minute decision, since I got a seat that's out of the end zone under the overhang and the sound is really awful over here. But, OC still managed to give me goosebumps during HoA. Mandarins are better in person than what I had seen of them on the Fan Network.
