  1. Just click the link. That worked for me and I'm not a subscriber. I think the WSJ has temporarily suspended pay walls.
  2. No you're not. You're thinking about "how can I use this public health emergency to troll DCP and throw more shade at the current Cadets leadership"
  3. It's time to accept the reality of the inevitable; the transmission of the virus will continue for a while. What could a corps director do if a staff member or performer tests positive while on tour? They'd have to quarantine everyone for 2 weeks. WGI has already to agreed to give age-outs another season. DCI should do the same. I agree that the 2021 will be strong; can you imagine how competitive the season will be with this much time to prepare?
  4. Aye - and I can't imagine any corps director not on board with this
  5. DCI will likely be shutting down for 2020 soon, it won't just be Cadets
  6. It seems like DCI has two choices: 1) delay the start of tour and have a shortened season, or 2) cancel tour. With still so many unknowns, I don't know how DCI could commit to a shortened season. I'd rather see everyone begin to focus their energy on 2021.
  7. It's reasonable to believe the transmission of the virus will continue for a while. What could a corps director do if a staff member or performer tests positive while on tour? They'd have to quarantine everyone for 2 weeks. I think we're all in denial of the inevitable. I suspect DCI may soon pull the plug on the 2020 Tour. 9. https://yea.org/node/10199 CADETS CANCEL MARCH 13-15 BRASS CAMP Created on Wednesday, 11 Mar 2020 11:30:18 MARCH 11, 2020-ALLENTOWN, PA: Due to the increasing number of health concerns regarding the spread of COVID-19 and the fact that New Jersey has declared a state of emergency, The Cadets, in consultation with Youth Education in the Arts (YEA!) Board President, Doug Rutherford, and DCI Executive Director, Dan Acheson, has decided to cancel this weekend’s Brass Camp which was to be held in Salem, New Jersey. Cadets Director, Denise Bonfiglio, stated that, “the health and welfare of students, staff, and volunteers was the main focus of this decision.” The Cadets administrative team has made all students, staff, and volunteers aware of this cancellation, and are making arrangements to cancel or transfer all travel arrangements for those making the trip to and staying in New Jersey for this camp. "We are monitoring this situation daily and consulting with medical professionals," Bonfiglio went on to say. "We will be staying abreast of any changes and how the potential spread of COVID-19 could impact future events.”
  10. I suspect the decision made at West Chester yesterday was the tipping point. https://www.wcupa.edu/communications/newsroom/2020/03.10update.aspx Colleges are closing their on-campus housing (West Chester, Rutgers, and others) and moving to online instruction; many students are being forced to relocate this weekend.
  11. The Jeff Davis Marching Vols Band from Montgomery, Alabama. They also performed in the Mardi Gras parades in Mobile and Biloxi. The head drum major has earned the nickname "Vanilla Funk" as he is the head drum major at a predominantly black high school.
  12. BOA Grand Nationals semi-finals have had performances as early at 6:15 AM https://marching.musicforall.org/event/grandnationals19/
  13. I'm guessing The Cadets would WANT to find a new HQ location
  14. I can't confirm, but considering Ron Lambert was the BAC assistant director in 2017, 2018 and 2019, it seems likely.
  15. Show and Tell is scheduled for noon, and a Volunteer and Parent Meeting at 11:00am
  16. Specifically, Lakewood Ranch High School in Bradenton, where assistant director Ron Lambert has been the band director for the past sixteen years. It's fortunate that he can open up his school for outdoor brass rehearsals so early in the season. https://yea.org/cadets/staff/ron-lambert
  17. Nor whether the new Cadets organization will continue to be headquartered in Allentown, or somewhere else?
  18. Number of FloMarching appearances (pre-Indy) for World Class corps The Academy 9 Blue Devils 14 Blue Knights 13 Blue Stars 17 Bluecoats 13 Boston Crusaders 14 The Cadets 10 Carolina Crown 15 The Cavaliers 15 Colts 12 Crossmen 12 Genesis 8 Jersey Surf 9 Madison Scouts 11 Mandarins 10 Music City 10 Pacific Crest 10 Phantom Regiment 13 Santa Clara Vanguard 12 Seattle Cascades 7 Spirit of Atlanta 8 Troopers 9
  19. Perhaps this is the Tuesday 6/30 show listed on the schedule as "DCI - Philadelphia" with Jersey Surf pictured? Rowan would make sense as a venue, since Cadets are persona non grata at Penn/Franklin Field, and the sod at Talen Energy Field in Chester now seems too delicate for drum corps. https://www.dci.org/events/2020-tbd-philadelphia Bluecoats - Canton, OH Boston Crusaders - Boston, MA The Cadets - Allentown, PA Crossmen - San Antonio, TX Jersey Surf - Camden County, NJ Music City - Nashville, TN Phantom Regiment - Rockford, IL Raiders - Burlington, NJ Spirit of Atlanta - Atlanta, GA
  20. In 2008, Cotton Bowl capacity was expanded from 68,252 to 92,100 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cotton_Bowl_(stadium) Of all the venues that have hosted DCI finals, I'd say Camp Randall had the greatest capacity concert side.
  21. I was puzzled by that response as well. rpbobcat expressed concerns before he/she is willing to make a donation to the corps, and that's understandable. so... why not share those concerns with denise?
  22. Ever heard of email? https://yea.org/home/team dbonfiglio@yea.org
  23. I guess it's pretty serious? Thank you, Simone.
