  1. Don't worry about counting yourself. DCI has numerous people doing that for you for every corps (and also policing the warmup areas for violations.) :)
  2. The question has been answered repeatedly here and on Facebook. The Blue Devils marched with 149 all season (only 39 guard members) with the intention of adding the young lady at the very end of the season. Can we close this now?
  3. DCI tries t claim DCI West at Stanford in a "regional", but we all know they are just kidding.
  4. Your comment is a load of garbage. BD was on FIRE tonight and the crowd noticed.
  5. I asked Grandfather. He said both are correct.
  6. I expect more theaters will be adding security (and, of course, raising prices to pay for it).
  7. And here is the release from June you might be thinking about. http://www.dci.org/ViewArticle.dbml?&SPSID=965782&SPID=166025&DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=210138208&DB_OEM_ID=33500
  8. WVU - Here is the link to where I found the message. This could be old info. No one really knows with the conflicting info Brasso got. BUT, you WILL still get Friday and Saturday nights if you have a sub. https://www.nmnathletics.com/regflow/PackageInfo.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=33500&REG_GROUP_ID=226743&IS_BEST=YES
  9. The DCI Live web site says "*Prelims webcast includes only the first 25 competing corps prior to the start of the Big, Loud & Live cinema event in movie theaters nationwide" Based on this statement, I do not think you get ANY of the top 15 via DCI Live on Thursday.
  10. The facility has large warehouse type doors that open on the front and back. From videos I have seen, the doors are open and numerous people are there for final rehearsals. Not sure if it is open to the public, but it sounds like it is.
  11. West IS Best! The last corps NOT from the West to win Open Class was the Spartans in 2007...when the championship was in the West.
  12. If you click through to the hourly schedule it says travel to Colt facility OR Ben Davis on Wednesday. It sounds like it is not definite, yet. As someone else stated, Thurs - Sat is all at the indoor facility. By the looks of their Wednesday schedule, they may be using BOTH locations (after Diner at the Colts facility, it says travel to Ben Davis).
  13. Blue Devils will be rehearsing at the Colts indoor facility beginning Wednesday. They are staying somewhere else.
  14. You're thinking of Todd Ryan. He is a genius with regards to visual execution.
  15. In his comment he stated that he could see writing on them from the upper rows where he was sitting, but people around him didn't know they were books.
  16. The show title ("Ink") is announced at the beginning of the performance. The white boxes have writing (or scribbling) on them as you noted. Who in the world couldn't figure out that these are probably books?
  17. I'm just a little curious how you had decent videos of all of these shows to watch over and over again and be able to determine who was playing and not at all times. Seriously. There is no Fan Network this year. You would only have bootleg videos made by someone in the stands. Of course, some corps are diligent in having those removed immediately when posted. I miss the Fan Network this year.
  18. I think the idea is to basically "stage" a production like you would a Broadway show. You figure out the big impact moments and where you want everyone for those. Then, you fill in the blanks in between. Sometimes you use organized drill movement and other times you use more "creative" movement. My understanding is that they eventually DO create drill sheets for the production and use those for the more precise cleaning needed to perfect the show. This method seems to work amazingly well when you have a lot of experienced veterans in the corps (i.e. last year). It appears to take a bit longer to reach "perfection" when you have a lot of newer members (new to the system, not necessarily to drum corps...like this year).
  19. Driving, probably. :) Seriously, if you use two drivers per vehicle, this is about a two and a half day drive (fuel stops only...okay, maybe a few bathroom stops, too). My guess is that they pulled in a few extra drivers who will fly home once they reach the East Coast. Assuming they left right after the show on Sunday night, they should arrive by Wednesday morning.
  20. I think this is the silliest thing I have ever read on DCP...and that is saying A LOT!!
  21. Due to location, I have had the opportunity to spend a great deal of time around this organization (and SCV). Your statement could not be more wrong.
