  1. Having been the recipient of many dismissive “pffts,” I would have to agree.
  2. Also, congratulations to Jay Murphy. Way overdue.
  3. I agree and I felt the same way about Myron Rosander (posthumously added to the HOF in 2016).
  4. And if there is a loss, do the member corps chip in to keep DCI’s offices open? Or does DCI live off its credit cards? (I’m not convinced they are going to turn a profit.)
  5. The seeds of regional associations have been planted. I think it is a good thing.
  6. I’m not sure what the format is going to be but if I were to guess, a lot of the content will be video presentations to help fill out time. But ... I still ordered my tickets.
  7. Yup. And Friday will be two weeks from my second shot. (Only side effect was a sore deltoid for a day.)
  8. CDC says fully vaccinated Americans can go without masks outdoors, except in crowded settings The guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is the latest set of recommendations for people who are two weeks past their final shot and for those who have not yet been inoculated. The guidelines address growing calls from infectious-disease and other public health experts to relax mask mandates for the outdoors because breezes disperse airborne virus particles, distancing is easier, and humidity and sunlight render the coronavirus less viable. For that reason, the guidance also says even unvaccinated individuals may go without masks when walking, jogging or biking outdoors with household members. However, officials caution that crowded outdoor settings still pose risks and urge everyone — both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals — to wear masks when attending sporting events, live performances and parades. 9. It’s not too hot. Not too cold. All you need is a light jacket.
  10. Let us pray. LET US PRAY! (OK, I’m mixing threads, now.)
  11. I think he will give it a fair treatment. When he is focused on important events, he comes through. And WSS is an important work.
  12. Unfortunately, the Bernstein estate (who owns licensing rights) has a bad taste in their mouths from recent adaptions of Leonard’s work on the field. I really doubt we will see WSS on the field in the near future.
  13. Let’s see ... a Native American corps and a Troopers type corps were cross town rivals ... what could possibly go wrong?
  14. North Star, Blue Stars and Cavaliers. We would be touring, lose North Star one night and pick up Cavies the next night. It was like we couldn’t escape it.
  15. I had to live though all those Sanchez’s in 1979. I think I have PTSD from hearing them over and over.
  16. I marched in the GLDBCA in the mid seventies. We were a bunch of local, but less than stellar corps, whose scores topped at the mid sixties in the tic era. Oddly enough, all our shows were packed. True, we marched in high school stadiums, mostly in Michigan, but the concert side was always sold out, show after show. Ahhh, for the good old days!
  17. I’m not so sure. Bands will want to use these used instruments for concert season as well as marching band and I am doubtful band directors will want a Bb soprano for the concert setting.
  18. I hear ya. It’s not that I am underwhelmed, but I’m not overwhelmed either. I’m just—whelmed. I admire the staff and MMs for just getting out of bed these days, and wish the corps every success.
