Different judges most likely. 1st time they were all together, and a week later, I would not have been surprised if the margin was greater or lesser. Let's see how it is tonight, will the delta be closer to last night or to SA? Last night may have been an anomaly or not.

Well, actually and eighth. But different show, different judges. Maybe, especially, different judges. We'll see what happens tonight.

2014 they were 5th in GE. And in ALL years, their GE was very closely aligned with the VIS. I think it was higher in 2015. Again, I find looking at "how we did last year or the year before" interesting, but irrelevant to how they did THIS year. We differ on that. Crown will improve in the GE this year just in case they improve their VIS scores. They know where to look. MUS is great as always. Look, we see some in the MS discussions pointing out the they were "perennial Top 12" and they expect them to be there again. But history has no relevance to how they are scoring THIS YEAR. They are scoring where they should be this year (give or take). I'd forget about history. This Crown corps is a different Crown corps from the one in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 or 2018. Some carryover, but different MMs and different Staffs. This years corps (Crown and others) are scoring near what they should be at this stage given their performance. Can they improve? Yes. As is true for every corps.

At finals in 2017 the delta between 1st and 5th was about 3.4 At finals in 2018 the delta between 1st and 5th was about 4.3 Last night the delta between 1st and 5th was about 3.5 Things don't see too much out of line historically.

Tends to hurt them in Visual as well.

I though we were speaking about GE. You point to Brass (Crown) BD (guard) and SCV (percussion). And with your argument, if Crown were consistently scoring 1-2 in GE, we might be alarmed. And when their VISUAL score is also 6th, their GE score is not out of line. By the way, Great MUSIC scores! And congratulations on a 4th overall.

Seems that if comparing scores in the same year at different venues is questionable, comparing across years with the same corps with different MMs and different Staffs would be HIGHLY QUESTIONABLE. Unless, of course, you are especially devoted to YOUR CORPS. Crown has a good/great show. But their scoring has (for the most part) been consistent. They have been 4th most of the year, with eyes on 3rd. A couple of corps behind them have their eyes on 4th. Good Luck to Crown (and everyone else as well). The final two weeks of the season should be fun to watch.

How is it odd? They were also 6th in GE in San Antonio. Seems consistent.

Crown + 0.575 SCV + 1.325 Crown, BAC, Cavies are within a half of a point... Should be exciting here out.

I was jumping off the highlighted point ... and that you were responding to some one who was talking about watching a rehearsal and coming to a conclusion.

DCI.org will tell you. Look at Schedule tab. Plug in BK ... and count.

Several of the Crown Faithful have been saying versions of the highlighted phrase for about two weeks now... See what happens in Broken Arrow, see what happens next weekend, see what happens in San Antonio, etc. And we keep seeing that Crown is continually moving (certainly slightly) behind SVC. The were closer at their first encounter. I'm sure that the Crown visual and design staff are helping the corps to improve and it will be evident tonight (and at Atlanta). But that is not the question. Will they narrow their deficit to SVC and the other two at the top of the heap. Know that those 3 are also improving their show, and the last couple of weeks indicate that they are doing it faster than Crown is. Also, there is another corp (from Boston) who is also sneaking up on Crown. Will they catch them? (I don't think so, but could be proven wrong.) Crown (and its supporters) should be looking behind as well as in front. You cannot just look at your favorite corps, or the one you looked at in rehearsal today. I have also not focused on the Cavaliers who are making giant steps.
