  1. I want to thank the Boston Crusaders for allowing us to be there today. It was a pleasure. Such a wealth of talent is a joy to witness.
  2. Jim and Andy are both lifers, too. Jim’s dad was in drum corps like your dad was.
  3. I wish. I am actually that old. I saw my first drum corps show as a 6th grader in 1968. The Illinois state fair show.
  4. To enjoy my 50th year of drum corps as much as year one.
  5. Thanks for the info. God knows I wouldn’t know a good brassline.
  6. From where I sit at DCI, some of them shouldn’t be amplified at all.
  7. So put him on ignore. You seem to be hypersensitive to his comments. Most brasslines do sound good standing still. Sheesh. The borgs live.
  8. I’m not going to name names but one show last year was particularly cringeworthy. It wasn’t the Cadets, either. I didn’t know how to react and it was a shame because the members performed the hell out of it.
  9. Well, I’m hoping that we can get out of Chicago this Saturday so we can see the corps the 18th. A bit of a snowstorm here. Our flight was cancelled and we rebooked. We’re really looking forward to seeing show and tell!
  10. It sounds interesting to me. I just hope it doesn’t get too talky like 2008. That’s probably my least favorite Cadets show.
  11. I used to be a donor and helped some kids march. Jim drove for them for a couple years and pushed props around here in the Midwest when we were at shows. Whatever we did, we did for the members. Never once, did I think it was about me. Harming the organization? That seems a bit dramatic. I doubt we carry that big of a stick in the grand scheme of things. If The Cadets are harmed, it will be an implosion kind of harm.
  12. I don’t call them uniforms anymore. And I don’t mean that as an insult. It’s costuming. I’m good with that. Having been around Winter percussion for decades, it’s been the norm. As the shows become more theatrical, it seems to me that costuming would be the natural evolution.
  13. Jim doesn’t hate the Cadets, for God’s sake. The Cadets are the members.
  14. I think the costume is fine but the drawing itself is making me laugh a little.
  15. I don’t think the kids hate the props so much. I’ll tell you who hates props. It’s the volunteers who park vehicles at shows. Everyone has added a vehicle for props. I got a blow by blow account from one of my friends.
  16. CT is at the Hampton Inn downtown. We’ll be there. It’s being renovated right now so it should be all new and shiny by Labor Day.
  17. I remember watching you guys warm up at the Atlanta show. I was like whoa they’ve come a long way.
  18. My kid marched under the Madison umbrella for nine seasons and I had to leave that thread.
