Too much of this sentiment is how you end up with something like modern art and the blatant money laundering operation that it has become. There should be a standard for what is and isn't beautiful. Whoever decided to make GE worth more on the sheets than anything else can shove it

I'll be getting a closer look at how open class operates in two weeks. One of the corps is doing a 2 week stint twenty minutes away from me and I'm going to check out their rehearsals. I'll get back to you on this one because I don't know much about open class

Weren't the kevin Durant Era golden state warriors one of the most hated sports franchises in history? Durant was one of the most likeable players in the nba until he shafted his small market team to go chase a ring. It's an absolute tarnished legacy. For about half a decade there was no reason to even watch the nba because you knew who was going to win before a game was even played. Why do you think the lebron james heat garnered so much hate. Parity among the different NFL franchises is part of what makes that sport such a huge draw because literally anything can happen and anyone can win. 'Any given sunday' as the saying goes. There's likely nothing that can be done about corps hoppers but it doesn't make finals week any more interesting knowing that there's better than a coin flips chance that bd will win

I've spoken to MMs at BD who basically told me they put things in their show to intentionally put the audience off. I find that they drive show design for everyone else in the activity and I haven't been a fan of their shows since godfather part blue because it told a coherent story. There's the other issue that I haven't seen addressed which is that they soak up the talent of other corps. They obviously have the best talent year to year but the corps is soulless in my opinion because the majority of the members are ring chasing transplants and the staff are a bunch of fart sniffing snobs.

I don't know, I think parity among the drum corps makes the activity more interesting. As it stands BD essentially soaks up all of the other corps vets that want to win first place for their age out year, not to mention their show designs are intentionally bizarre and meant to please the judges rather than the crowds

From what I saw through streams last year Boston fielded the most talented hornline. If they retain most of their hornline I would say they have a pretty decent chance at a medal, bizarre show design and all.

I skipped to a random moment in the podcast because I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt that maybe something racist has gone on at some point. Instead it was some guy attributing not getting a drum major position to racism, when in fact it was because he was unreliable when it came to paying tuition. Ridiculous! This is why I don't take your claims at face value
