  1. He was at Madison on visual staff when I marched there, while Pete Weber was doing drill. Really positive presence and good information. Would love to see him find the right fit as a designer.
  2. I clicked on the wrong page - Our Team is not the same as Meet the Staff 🤦‍♂️
  3. My understanding is this was his first year back. I have a feeling they want to hang on to him.
  4. Kuhn is the only instructional/creative staff member I see on the website.
  5. It's not really a Phantom show unless someone dies 😂
  6. I largely agree with PLA, and have strong opinions on the activity as well. But on the rare occasion an organization is fool enough to bring me aboard, I recognize that everything I say/do can be considered a representation of my employer.
  7. Reading the original post before it was taken down and the three subsequent posts, I don't think you can interpret it as anything other than they have parted ways.
  8. Right. And the point I think PLA was trying to make is that there's still a long way to go. Unfortunately, it was done in a manner that made the BK leadership uncomfortable. Within the last year or so a guard judge posted an image of a panel she was on, I think noting that it was the first all female panel she had served on in decades of adjudicating. Wild to think that an activity where you might have a single male performer in a high school unit is so heavily slanted towards males on the judging side of things.
  9. Not so much DCI, but I would go frame by frame on low camera for WGI DVDs to learn choreography and tricks. Especially Northern Lights, Corona, Blessed Sacrament, and Pride of Cincinnati.
  10. An image of a judging panel from finals week that did not reflect the demographics of the participants, and expressed concern.
  11. At championships in 2006 I saw someone relieve themselves on a vehicle belonging to one of the medalists. Presumably they couldn't find the judges' vehicles.
  12. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Cavaliers from 2001-2003 for.... just daring to do their thing. There was a segment within the DCI fanbase that thought their visually oriented programs with original music was going to be the death of the activity. I recall standing in retreat next to them as a fan of another organization heckled the performers with loads of profanity and homophobic slurs.
  13. That said, I loved little things like the flag that had the DCI logo and a hammer and sickle on it, or the performer waving baby powder atop the podium at the end of the show (referencing the penalty they took the previous year).
  14. I've seen more than a few band/guard people "encouraged" to resign before being terminated.
  15. For sure. But if judges can adjudicate on both Open and World class sheets at a show, they can probably also adjudicate on DCA sheets. Especially if they do the myriad indoor and marching band circuits. If the governing bodies do it right, it could grow the audience for both aspects of the activity.
  16. Would cohosting a DCI/DCA show make an event more lucrative and easier to run? Could it facilitate DCA growth outside of the Northeast?
  17. Did they say who this third party was? It wasn't named anything like APAMV was it?
  18. They did come up with a sort of production, they just didn't go to Indy. Not sure if members were charged to be a part of it.
  19. I should have been more clear. The settlements this person is referring to are related to the departures following 2016.
  20. On social media, there's an SCV guard alum who is taking the scorched earth approach and flinging accusations of expensive settlements. Is there any way to back up their claims? - I totally understand if this comment feels like rumor mongering and needs to be removed.
  21. I remember reading the VCH's post about his termination, he said it was without warning or opportunity to change his approach. Here's a quote: "I was recently placed under a non-criminal, third-party investigation about my workplace behavior and communication style with peers/colleagues. Prior to speaking with the investigator, I was never officially notified that I was under investigation, that these concerns existed, and not given any warning or opportunity for corrective behavior. While speaking with and asking questions to the third-party investigator, it was their view that the claims against me were non-fileable offenses, but rather highlighted a need for a better system of communication practices within the organization. However, the investigator's job was not to give a recommendation or determination on my employment status. That was 100% up to the Investigation Committee of VMAPA."
  22. Length may not be punished, but if there's less content to judge, I could see that being a liability.
  23. https://www.spiritofatlanta.org/news/leadership If they let these people do their jobs, hopefully the enablers will find their way to the door quickly.
  24. Say what you will about technical issues, Box 5's customer service makes Flo and NFHS look like amateur hour.
