  5. It's called a nozo- the cogs they wear for each year they marched
  6. OMG I had so forgotten that. I was at the show and can remember my stomach just cringing for the kid.
  7. Agreed. Remember the pus yellow trim SCV wore the year after Gail died (plumes and drum hardware)? Man, that was truly awful and I'm a huge Vanguard fan.
  8. SCV: green pants, red jacket, white stripe, star, aussie, and huge plume. Don't mess with perfection. Worst uniform last year was Bluestar's. I loved your show and thought you were definitely top 12 material but that uniform was a huge distraction.
  9. how about a real compromise,,, contbas or tubtras?
  10. BAC used to do a tree burn the night before their final show. Find a tree, put it in a trash can, then fire it up. During the burn members would throw notes or items from the season and say a few words.
  11. Not a sleeper but Scouts will make it back into top 12. I also think SCV is about due for a championship.
  12. First: 1971 Horspath Scouts I'm ten years old and I'm playing a rope tensioned pig skin tenor drum. I was twirling those sticks with the best of them. The good thing was I didn't have to march if it was raining because the skins would rip. Last: 1986 British Youth Band Championships playing contra Horspath Scouts.
  13. I'm drooling, just drooling. The finishing touch... someone in a kilt and covered in woad screaming FREEDOM!
  14. lining fields and getting wet feet before anyone is up-- aah bliss. But I always got fresh coffee. lol
  15. Once had someone after reading my t-shirt ask me "So what's the Santa Claus Vanguard?"
  16. They are working smarter. Also, the members come to the corps better prepared.
