  1. From the DCI Website Georgia Dome; Atlanta, GA Lineups for the July 14, Coltrin & Associates DCI Southeastern Championship in Atlanta, Ga. Lineup was determined by the competitive results of the DCI Eastern Classic on July 7 and 8 in Allentown, Pa in combination with a random draw in groups of threes (1-3 ranked corps, 4-6 ranked corps, etc.). Mike
  2. In 1985 at the end of semi finals, the top four corps, Cadets, Santa Clara, Blue Devils and Madison were all within .6 So we have had some great races in the past. Mike Wetzel DCW Staff
  3. Madison's opening score has averaged 67.67 for the last 5 years. A score of 68 or above tonight looks good for the year, under 67, probably a struggle. Dr. Mike
  4. Does anyone know the future dates for finals? I am just trying to plan way ahead. Thanks, Dr. Mike
  5. Not in order of finish, but favorite shows, Crown Cadets minus the narration it would be number 1 Cavies Bluecoats Glassmen Spirit
  6. Good as usual but the Bluecoat show does nothing for me.
  7. <**> I wonder if the US Naval Academy wireless system will not allow them to do this? It does seem to me that everything should have been worked out in advance. Mike
  8. Since it takes judges a couple of times to get a good viewing, what are your predictions for Annapolis? These are mine; Cadets Cavies Bluecoats Crown Glassmen Spirit
  9. Does anyone know if the encorp video will be the full show, or jsut clips? Thanks, Mike
  10. I need to ask David Coolidge a question, but I cannot find his email address anymore. Thanks, Dr. Mike Wetzel DCW Writer
  11. For the first time I can remember, the top three were all winners. Meaning that I did not care who won, anyone of them would have made a tremendous champion. Mike
  12. I ordered my DCI 2006 World Championships DVD/CD bundle today, and I noticed two things; They say the CD's will be ready by late August They are only doing the top 12. You can download the others. Comments? Mike
  13. We held the Southern Baptist Convention there a couple of years ago and it was the perfect setup. We did not have to move the car a single time. Plenty of hotels within walking distance and a myriad of restaurants. Some fast food, some medium price and a few that were among the best I have experienced. Mike
  14. [ People were up in arms over the 1988 format, but it work, and IMO it should be standard today. The judges in semis and finals HAD TO give the right numbers because they didn't know what the other panel was going to do and it could have turned the activity upside down if say we won Semis and landed in 5th in finals. I have been saying the same thing for years. I have been writing for DCW for over 20 years, and have experience in marching, teaching and judging. I would love to see them not only use the same format, as 1988, but I would also like to have them have two full sets of judges for regionals and finals. You could have them average the scores but you would still see the differences between the judges. I also think the scores should be entered by the judges on a computer and have the scores announced before the next corps appears. Mike
  15. Blue Devils 93.300 2 Bluecoats 91.050 3 Blue Knights 86.950 4 Carolina Crown 86.900 5 Spirit from JSU 84.100 6 Capital Regiment 79.200 7 The Magic 73.450
  16. I still think Cadets will have a penalty for time issues. Might keep Bluecoats ahead. Mike
  17. Were they late? It seems as if they did all of the mic checks after the announcer said to take the field. If so could be a penalty. Mike
  18. This entire thread remionds me of a person I was interviewing for the position of Music Minister. I am a pastor of a church, have a degree in instrumental education, and have plyed trumpet professionaly with different symphony orchestras. He did not know any of that. He comes in and immediately says his name and the fact that he has perfect pitch. He then added that I could test him. We went itno the sanctuary and I played piano for him. He rarely came within a 4th of the note. He left convicned that he had perfect pitch, but that our digital keyboard was at least a 4th of. By the way, I did not hire him. Mike
  19. Actually the scores are low compared to 2004 and 2003. Where the glassmen are currently 12th with an 80.7, in 2003 12th palce had an 84.40. Blue Devils are currently 1st with 92.75, but the lead in 2004 was at an 93.250. Mike
  20. Because of the rainout and scheduling, Madison, Glassmen and Spirit will have three days of before having a contest. Will it hurt or help them?
  21. Blue Devils 92.4 SCV 86.5 Madison 84.7 Glassmen 82.8 Spirit 82.0 Crossmen 78.1 Seattle 70.1
