One thing Flo does NOT help get across is just how brilliantly those bright yellow sleeves glow in the sun and under lights. It's such a great accent for their electricity show.

The narration they've added (?) actually made me start to interpret the show as a much wider commentary/metaphor on regime change.

The one earlier in the show was also white earlier this season, but that was red tonight. And now the one at the end is yellow.

Really nice job handling that tempo change from front to back between pit and battery. Battery was pretty far back there.

I believe Mandarins' center snare marched Pulse this year (and they won Independent World). I know RCC and BD used to have a strong connection--not sure if that's still the case.

Golden Empire was another group I got to see live. I REALLY wanted to hear more from their brass at the time (Impulse got more sound out of their smaller line). Let's see if they've made any strides since then.

Not sure. Impulse has been around for a decent amount of time (they even won Division III one year). But then they went inactive and re-emerged.

I got to see Impulse live, shortly after their string of scoring higher than BK in color guard. Their guard is indeed FANTASTIC, both in equipment skills AND as performers.

Wow, Vessel! I haven't seen them since the very first show they were at...was that Vista? What tremendous growth across their short season. Good for them! Great job from their soloists so far!

From what I can tell, it is indeed 2008. BD first faced Phantom on July 3 in San Diego, CA. BD won with 83.300 over Phantom's 81.600.

What can I say?

Ever since the Southeastern regional moved out of the dome, it hasn’t been an all-skate regional (probably due to not wanting to have corps in the outdoor elements during the peak heat of the day). So some corps go to Atlanta and some to NightBeat (do some do both?). Last year Mandarins were at Atlanta; this year they’ll be at NightBeat (which is a far better stadium and drum corps crowd anyway).

Totally fair. I love that their book is meaty enough this year that it will take time for them to fully achieve it.

I think Cadets will be more in the 5-7 grouping and Cavies and Blue Stars will be in their own 8-9 grouping over Troop and Colts.
