If only there was...
chris ncsu replied to Phantom&Phitch's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Cavies 2000, one more night probably Cadets 1997, Blue Devils were as clean as possible and Cadets still had dirt they could have cleaned up in a week... Cadets 1996, as has been said Phantom Regiment 1993, I don't know, Star and Cadets had incredible programs, and with the little bits of dirt in Cadets and Star, and they still won... Cadets 1992 Eh, I'll stop now... -
Who's Getting the Most Play?
chris ncsu replied to Matt_S's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
I've caught myself doing that the last few days -
Dude, Blue Devils won brass in 2001. lol

One note on the drill...as some say of their 1998 Stonehenge show, I thought the drill ended perhaps 6 counts too soon...seemed as if the music still wanted the drill to go through the Twilight Zone quote but it didn't. Did anyone else think this?

3 Shows with EMOTION

Re Cadets 2000 company front and the pause ... I wish there were a similar pause before the front in 1997. It was way too brief, seemed like they rushed into that finale. -
2005 -- Cadets (so far) 2004 -- SCV (PR close behind) 2003 -- PR 2002 -- no real favorite, but would pick BD (SCV close behind) 2001 -- Cadets 2000 -- Cadets 1999 -- SCV 1998 -- Cadets 1997 -- Cadets (Xmen close behind) 1996 -- PR 1995 -- Cadets 1994 -- No real favorite, let's go with BD 1993 -- Cadets (PR and Star not far) 1992 -- Cadets 1991 -- PR 1990 -- Cavies 1989 -- PR 1988 -- SCV 1987 -- Cadets 1986 -- BD 1985 -- Scouts 1984 -- Cadets (SCV close 2nd0 1983 -- Cadets 1982 -- no real favorite, let's say Scouts 1981 -- Scouts 1980 -- Spirit

best site never to host finals
chris ncsu replied to Orpheus's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
My general impression of Chicago the 3 times I've been was that it was clean *blink* -
Cadets were making up ground big time in 92, 95, and 01 weren't they? A lot of times they seem like the clumsy kid in a boxcar race whose boxcar breaks right when the opening shot sounds, but put it back together somehow and come screaming from behind.

1992 Cadets of Bergen County
chris ncsu replied to MikeN's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
In the past year or two, this is one of my most played Cadets shows, which might seem strange as how it isn't very...tuneful, if I can call it that (compared to their more straightforward Americana prior to that). That guard ranks up there in my mind with their 96 guard in darn-near-perfection. Too bad they placed I think 4th in brass, considering back then it was fairly common for The Cavies to falter in brass scores compared to their top-3 overall placements. Killer mello book, mmm... I recall a fairly recent Hop blog post where he was talking about how in those times The Cadets could usually count on GE to pull them through if nothing else did, and how he thought that would happen with 1992. Wish it had :-/ -
This is true! But considering that that was about the hottest weekend for New England...but would be rather normal for Columbia and points south...we just came in on the wrong side of the odds in Foxboro. A shower felt SO GOOD when I got back Saturday night.

I hate pickles, especially when they're imposed upon me when I order a deli sandwich.

I think it was new for finals. -
Would be our luck that it would be yet another hot, stagnant day in Columbia.

Favourite Cavaliers show of the 00's
chris ncsu replied to Canadacorps's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Cavies were doing 'geometrics' for 15 years before 2000. -
I was thinking about Carter-Finley the other day (I'm a State student). But it took me back to a conversation I was having with some work friends, discussing whether we could host a big climate conference in Raleigh (I'm in meteorology). And we couldn't think of anything to do in Raleigh (for example, we had a climate conference in Savannah in June...Savannah has the river, the river front, just darn pretty in general). I know I made the same complaint about Charlotte above, but in Raleigh, even worse I think.

cadets win quarterfinals
chris ncsu replied to somerville's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
From my one live viewing at finals, the BD guard looked great with what they were doing. -
That stadium is too small for finals...it would be in Ericsson Stadium (Panthers). I guess the AL Memorial Stadium of which you speak would be more considered for D2/3? Are there other smaller stadiums in Charlotte? In any case, there really isn't anything to...DO in Charlotte, is there?

Has the art of the ending been forgotten?

So, what souvies did you get at Finals?
chris ncsu replied to Wildabeast's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
The orange Zone shirt from The Cadets, and a Cadets bumper sticker. -
Yeah, that elevator alarm was like fingernails on a chalkboard to me at the end of the night...to the point that it SERIOUSLY hindered my Phantom Regiment experience. :-(
