  1. McBump!! This is a great show, and great venue!
  2. I'd love to do a, "Wagner's Best Hits," show. Do selections from, "The Ring..." This would be done with an 1980-90s style drum corps with G bugles, and no bloody electronics!
  3. The primary goal of I&E is to exhibit performance excellence and entertain the crowd. If you are interested in a high score, it is to be noted that the judges sheets reward technicallity over musicality. But honestly at the end of the day, the best judge of your success is the crowd. What greater accolade can you seek than to please the crowd?
  4. ACTUALLY: If your ever firing at a target downhill from you, it is essential to aim below it if you want any chance of hitting said target! (the parabolic path of the projectile will cause it to rise into the target)
  5. 1. Minnesota Brass Inc. 2. Buccaneers 3. Caballeros 4. Hurricanes 5. Cadets2 6. Empire Statesmen 7. Atlanta CV 8. Fusion Core 9. Bushwackers 10. Tampa Bay Thunder 11. Kilties
  6. Has anyone here ever examined just how easy it is to get on the sex offender list? I know people that ended up on the list for, "Public indecency." I wouldn't presume to speak for everyone here, but I know I've ###### on my share of trees\wood lines during my drum corps career when porta-johns weren't available. Something as innocuous as pissing on a tree can get you on a list in the same company as a serial rapist! My inner libertarian questions the constitutionality of even having a public listing of sex offenders but that is probably a debate for another time. I would encourage you to stop reacting emotionally and start thinking logically.
  7. Kilties had a member from the Indianapolis area last year.
  8. While I am unable to be TREMENDOUS this year, I have in my TREMENDOUSness gone to the trouble of scribbling out a TREMENDOUS contra part in bass cleff for those not TREMENDOUS enough to read more than one cleff. If anyone has need of this please email me. TREMENDOUSLY YOURS, Pat
  9. Piper you are correct the original song was titled, "To Anacreon in Heaven." Leave it to us Americans to choose an inordinately difficult drinking song as the basis for our national anthem!
  10. When you sing, "Anacreon In Heaven," you can do whatever you want. If your singing our national anthem, it should be done with the utmost in dignity, respect and in my opinion tradition.
  11. Unlike those who are seldom if ever tremendous, (read EL GUAPO!!) I am ALWAYS TREMENDOUS!!!!
  12. My post has absolutely nothing to do with musical ability or execution I was merely a bit thrown off by the arrangment. Perhaps it is due to my career as a military musician, but it just grates on me when I hear the Anthem arranged\performed in a non-traditional manner (and this applies to instrumental arrangments as well) It is nothing personal just my preference.
  13. On this note I would like to comment about the anthem performed prior to the mini-corps performance; "Oh Canada," was performed normally and sounded great. Was it just me or was the "Star Spangled Banner," performed in 4/4 time? The Vocalist had a pleasant voice, and executed quite well, but 4/4 seriously? I have always been told that you can take, "Artistic liberties," with most music, but you NEVER muck about with the national anthem. This is not to say that you cannot be, "Musical," but to change it in a manner that detracts from what your average listener knows to be normal, or to make it all about the performer rather than the country you are honoring is patently wrong. Since this is a drum and bugle corps activity I would much prefer to hear... you guessed it, drums and bugles! I have an excellent arrangement of the Star Spangled Banner for horn line that I would be more than happy to share with any corps\horn players that would like to use it.
  14. That would be an awesome show, but I'm pretty sure the corps did excerpts from that back in '00? Still it could make an AWESOME show...
  15. Honestly I think the membership and fans would desert en-masse. Honestly I have no desire to ever march another show with my knees covered...
  16. You know you may be right. We've had the Buchanan Tartan for 10+ years now, maybe it's about time we change to a new one! (The Kilties have sported 5 different tartans over their 76 year history) What tartan did you have in mind?
  17. I want to see SOMEONE do a russian show. Russian Christmas Music Farewell of a Slavic Woman March Slav
  18. In past years I have been very critical of the stadium staff at Paetek\Sahelen's Park. It seems that in the past there was always confusion as to where corps members could enter\exit the stadium. There were many instances where the rules\orders seemed vague at best and irrational\confrontational at worst. I am happy to say that this year I experienced\saw no such issues at the stadium. The venue's staff were both friendly, helpful and completely a joy to interact with. I know this may seem like a small thing, but I believe it is important to give full credit where it is due: Thank you to both the stadium staff and DCA for getting this right.
  19. I would have to agree on the mismatched sporrans and the variety in ways that the plaid is worn. However if you look back at the Jr Kilties you will see a wide variance in the manner in which the tam was worn\shaped even back in the DCI days.
