  1. Something's telling me Cadets2 did not use the weekend practice time to full advantage.
  2. This is not the first time Alliance has started the season and then went inactive for the remainder leaving a cancelled show on the schedule. I'm not sure they can continue to do that to DCA and their membership if they want to ever consider themselves active again. You can only dip into that well so many times till the element of trust is broken.
  3. I would expect if C2 sends out a email blast asking for donations to get them to finals that someone returns it with links to this thread. Pretty crappy to be the returning champion and hose a show sponsor a week or two before the show because you want to stay home and practice. I could understand if it was a hurricane or some financial reason stopping them from making the show. If it were a excuse like it cost them 24K to rent busses and travel 26 hours to make the show i might understand. But this was not the case.
  4. Wow till you mentioned it I did not even consider the possibilities. i want to say last year or was it the year before they had to do their show in the rain just to get that score and it was pouring buckets ???
  5. Lots of shows getting cancelled and or dropping off the map . Discuss ??
  6. Wow Cadets and Cabs only go up a point a week . That extra practice did not work out real good for the Cadets
  7. I'm sure they won't get fined. Its not who you are but who you are.
  8. Alot depends on how the membership contract reads. My personal experience has been membership dues are collected in "camp fees" to pay for staff at camp and camp expenses. By the time the corps decides to go inactive/fold the monies collected from "camp fees" have all been used to pay for "camp expenses" so there is nothing to return to the membership. In other words the money you put into it was used on YOU the membership. NOT saying that was the case of alliance as have no dog in that fight.
  9. Yeah basically just better to keep this stuff in the closet right so the people paying to see the shows can't have a say in the matter. Sounds like the summer band activity to me.
  10. Actually Back when DCA was actually promoting Smaller Start up corps I thought that Trombones and Sousa's SHOULD have been legal. Just about every small startup SR DCA corps back then could get up off the ground without having to go out and buy Expensive Baris and Contras. Of course now they are approving them for a "effect" (barf) reason. Not to help out start up corps.
  11. Countdown for the first soloist to use a microphone and amp just because in 3,2 1
  12. I think a couple of corps already have super camps where they basically rehearse starting on Tuesday or Wed and go through Sunday already. I know when I marched we did a midwest tour thing where we were gone Thursday thru Sunday one year. Mostly with Adults and real lives and jobs. Its Doable if your willing to think outside the box.
  13. I don't follow or watch the summer band circuits anymore. Nor have I seen this show. What I can say is if this show gets picked up after the initial 6 its going to be hard to have any longevity on TV. The reason why is the cast of characters will move on in real life and there really wont be any central characters for viewers to identify with. Its not like survivor or anything where people can just catch up in 2 min with a entire new cast every year.
  14. Just pointing out that those early reads really did not make any difference other than the feedback from the judges.
  15. As you can see CV played that game for several years. I really didn’t seem to change anything placement wise come championships. June 27, 2009 Bridgeport, CT 1. Hurricanes 77.525 2. 16. You have a good point. There was at least one corps that was not ready in June and requested exhibition status. If this becomes a trend...where the corps cannot pull it together by June or the content of the program is so difficult that they cannot be ready by June.. They probably should skip the entire Month of June and get ready for the competitive season.
  17. Where"s the expansion? Those corps have been around back when it was a Senior corps. Where is the growth in the all age? Answer????
  18. DCA is Primary a NE activity. Sound Sport is looking to expand the activity outside the NE. You can find out more here. http://soundsport.com/find-team/
