  1. You don't have to feel bad for the kids. I'm sure that they are very proud of what they have accomplished so far this season. As I said to Wayne Downey at the Stanford show, "I like the this show even more than the past two years!". I am very proud to be an alumnus of the Blue Devils!
  2. This is an easy one for me. The last minute of Pagliacci, Bridgemen '77
  3. As far as mouthpieces go, all I play on are Monettes. The 24K gold feels great! The price tag? Not so much!
  4. And gold plated horns are actually brass with a silver plating and then a gold plating of approximately an ounce of gold over the silver. If I could afford it, I would gold plate my Wild Thing, but the cost is about $800-$900.
  5. And later that week he came to our victory party and played on my trumpet. He just happened to have his mouthpiece in his pocket!
  6. I think that the Kingsmen got a 56.65.
  7. My opinion only Ed, but I felt that '05 was BY FAR the best corps that we have ever fielded. And certainly the best hornline that we have ever put out, again IMHO.
  8. Thanks Ron for your kind words! As far as thinking that "it would be relatively easy to break into DCA and eventually win a title" goes, yes we did believe that we could be consistent enough to make finals every year(which we've been able to do so far), but we NEVER thought that it would be easy to win a title. We have been realistic with our goals knowing that we have one of the "oldest" groups out there, and probably rehearse the least out of just about anyone, as well. I'm not trying to make excuses, just being realistic. The good news is that the average age of our members has been dropping for the past several years, so our future looks bright!
  9. Hi Todd, Ahhhhhh, memories! But, if you remember, I didn't actually pick up the panels, I just held the bag(when there was one, that is!) Sorry to be OT!
  10. 1. They were indeed VERY loud! 2. Even though we played it in '81 as well, I prefer the '83 version because of the intro! 3. I'd like to hear them stand still and play a kick ### version of La Suerte again. (i know, those "concert" days are long gone)
  11. And don't forget about "Faces". Last played by the Cabs and the Sky Ryders in '82! Disco is back, baby!
  12. Update on Renegades: Dia de los Muertos Funeral for a Friend - Elton John Faces - Earth, Wind & Fire Death March - Traditional Mexican folk song Heat of the Day - Pat Metheny One More Time Chuck Corea - Singers Unlimited
  13. Most underrated bari solo in the history of man(and woman)? 2007 Renegades. Dave Landers opened our show with an incredible display of phrasing, musicality, tone & range! I would put that solo up there with any other, ever!
  14. The music was easier when I marched? Don't think so.
  15. You are correct, sir! I was also on staff that year with SCV, and was fortunate enough to watch BD from down on the track several times!
