  1. Oh, and I wore the DCI XX Logo shirt in '92 until it became more holes than shirt... Mike
  2. '96 Phantom Drumline shirt, was a faded green with embossed "phantom" - it was like my second skin. Then a pen leaked in the washer, and it was taken out of my life... :( Mike
  3. I'm looking to order a vest carrier for my pipe band snare (the T-bar I have right now is murdering my lower back), and I saw these online, though I've never seen them anywhere else... Musician's Friend - XL Omni Snare Carrier Not even on the XL website - the shoulder assembly is different than the "normal" ones. Has anyone used these? Are they better? Or any thoughts on the XL / Premier vest carriers in general? Before I spend $200 I'd like to get some opinions! :) Thanks, Mike
  4. Will BD be selling this CD? (I'll start saving my pennies now...) Mike
  5. Back in the day, Phantom was selling a faded green t-shirt with Phantom embossed into it, and a gold outline of a drummer. Mine died in a horrible ink accident in the washer, and I've been looking for a replacement ever since. If you have one (or know where I might be able to get one) - please drop me a line. Thanks! Mike New
  6. Oooh, Lento is one of those that stays with you. Here's 4 of my favorite underappreciated songs... BD '89 - Johnny One-Note - one of the best closers ever! Pioneer '98 or '99 - Magh Seola - it's the ballad, and it's on the Boston Pops Celtic Album. Just a great, great piece. Dutch Boy 1993 - Luck Be a Lady Tonight - one of my all-time favorites. Catchy, and you just go right along with the groove to the end. VK 1993 - William Tell Overture - Ay caramba, what a great drumline! Seriously - anyone who likes drumming oughta listen to this one for a great take on a well-known piece. I'm sure there's more, but those are the first that came to mind... Mike (Oh yeah, Boston Crusaders 1993 - Russian Easter Overture - too cool!)
  7. For DLP, if I remember right, they had something to do with Vic Firth (the percussion manufacturer). The problem I see as a drummer is that while a lot of horn warmups are fairly "standard", a lot of them aren't as well. For instance, I doubt you could make a case that hosting the Cavaliers '02 "All Things Bright and Beautiful" 60-second is *not* violating copyrights, but I bet you could get scale exercises to your heart's content. In most cases, you'd have to contact the individual corps that you get them from and just ask. (I'm hardly an expert on the matter, but that's how I see it, anyways...) Mike
  8. And if there's not much, then help us remedy that! :) Mike
  9. As best as anyone has ever been able to explain it, it really (at this point and time) is a stylistic, rather than technical, choice. It just looks "better" to folks, and that's how they're used to teaching it. Mike
  10. (Moved to DCP Marketplace -Mike)
  11. This mini is still available, if you're interested... Mike
  12. Sound and weight, mainly. More sound than weight. Mike
  13. Hey, I'm clearing out the last of my mini collection, and the first one (first of the last?) I'm offering is a 1996 Phantom Regiment mellophone. It's from the first series that Drum Corps Miniatures made. Asking price is $35, and includes shipping / insurance. PM me if you're interested - first come, first serve. Thanks! Mike
  14. (also moved topic to Percussion forum - more likely that drummers'll see it there! :) ) Mike
  15. Just a note of caution - please link to sites that contain music in the public domain; any links to sites with copyrighted material will have to be removed. :( (Basically, we're engaging in file-sharing if we allow that...) Thanks, Mike

  17. I apologize, but our Community Guidelines prohibit the posting of previously copyrighted material without the author's permission. That could get us shut down for file-sharing. :( At http://www.bluedevils.org/, they do have a sample of 1976 from their Through the Years CD, Volume 1. That direct link is http://www.bluedevils.org/merchandise/cds/tty1/ Thanks, Mike
  18. Moved to DCP Marketplace - more of a "Wanting to Buy" post, and this might help more people see it! Thanks, Mike
  19. You could PM Andrew - his screenname is Wheelerand. :) Hope that helps - Mike
  20. Moved to Percussion Forum, so that it might be better preserved for posterity! :) Mike
  21. Moved to Historical Discussions forum. As I've heard it told, I thought it was '85, and they used a synthesizer to play Axel F (Beverly Hills Cop theme) - they were penalized either 1.0 or 2.0 at each show in which it appeared? I'm sure someone'll fill in more detail on here... :) Mike
  22. Forrest is an officer in the Marine Reserve, and was called up a couple of years ago to serve in Macedonia. The last Psiguy heard from him, he was still over there. In the meantime, obviously, no more minis have been made, but Forrest has said that once he gets back he wants to start doing it again. That's about all we know... :) Mike
  23. So what happened with the Expos in '89 - they reneged on their deal with DCI, or did DCI put the banner up expecting them to sign a contract, or what? I've been wondering about that one as well! :) Mike
  24. For those of you who don't know, Kilpatrick is an awesome drummer - pretty much acknowledged as one of the best - if not *the* best - pipe band drummers in the world. Mike
