  1. He has also been a parent of a marching member- his daughter was in the Colts color guard. Congratulations Dan! I am happy that you are running DCI.
  2. How many corps make Open Class finals?
  3. We wore the silks/satins on and off during my time with the VK (75-78). Same skirt, cumberbund, shakos/plumes and boots all four years though.
  4. Was surprised to see myself on the screen! Go 1979 Blue Stars! Disappointed with the balance between the horn lines and THE SYNTHESIZERS & PITS (yelling for emphasis because the electronics were TOO #### LOUD!!!). Seriously considered leaving the theater after the first few corps because I couldn't hear the horn lines. Was surprised that with all the theaters showing the broadcast, our (small) theater was still sold out. Disappointed that with tonight's performance, the Colts did not finish at least one place higher. Our section thought Colts were very good tonight. Was happy happy happy surprised that SCV totally got to me from count one. Ahhhhhhhh... Disappointed at all the non-pointed feet in the color guards. It's August and you can't point your feet? REALLY? Was happy surprised that the corps are really effin' good this year. There were lots of shows that I wish I could have seen live- and more that I wish I could have heard live.
  5. Do a Google search for "color guard gloves". You will find lots of choices and vendors. You can also try looking for weight lifter or biking gloves in your local sporting good store or department. My practice set came from from Wal-mart. If you go to a drum corps show, check the souvie booths as some corps sell them.
  6. FYI: Open Class coverage was worse (meaning non-existent) on the ESPN broadcast.
  7. During FULL retreat. I bet for most of the kids on the field tonight, this will be their first one!
