  1. Lemme see, one approach garnered third place and the other approach garnered fifth place. So, I'm gonna go ahead and say competitive advantage.
  2. Search "The Site That Shall Not Be Named" for Cavaliers Alumni old school cadence 2008 and check out Uncle Sam pimping HIMSELF!!!!!!
  3. I hate to bring this up, since I feel that we've already come to the "beating the dead horse" aspect of this issue, but there are a few posts that I would like to address: Now that's a great thought........except for the fact that it's coming from a member of '77 Bridgemen. And guess what, I'm not even referring to the DQ for the overage member. I'm referring to the fact that I was a member of a '77 corps who was asked to leave a school in North Platte, Nebraska due to the fact that some Bridgemen members were helping themselves to the local HS football team's practice jerseys while both our corps were sharing the same facilities. I don't think it's entirely unknown to the drum corps public that some members of your corps were a little "rough around the edges." You're referring to the same Blue Stars, whose members in 1981, after missing finals for the second year in a row, went on a drunken binge and spent several hours re-arranging the lines on our practice field, so that we had to spend another hour re-lining the field? I'm sure that kind of behavior is not outlined in the "Philosophy" section of the Blue Stars' History. I don't think it's entirely unknown to the drum corps public that some members of your corps were known to drink to excess. The point here is that if you are a former corps member, the likelihood that your corps at some point in their history has engaged in some questionable behavior is pretty high. I don't think that there are too many instances of a single corps conducting themselves with exemplary behavior throughout their history. Troopers or SCV perhaps. That leaves a LOT of other corps with skeletons in their own closet. That fact that there are former members of corps who are willing to denigrate another corps for their behavior, when their own Alma mater has a history of poor judgement on occasion is laughable to me. I don't mind the former Bluecoats calling out their own corps........as I'm certainly not happy with the actions of corps that I was a member of. I'm of the opinion that these problems should be handled "in house," however. I think Jesus said it best with his "he without sin may cast the first stone." I for one certainly did my share of stupid things in my early 20s....both in and out of uniform.
  4. So, basically--any finals below the Mason-Dixon line = t3h suck. DCI, are you reading this????
  5. As an old-school bass drummer, the 18" bass drum to me looks totally gh3y.
  6. Unless I totally missed something, there's no draft for drum corps members--they are there voluntarily. So their decision to march with a drum corps that is obviously a lightning rod for criticism and hate is THEIR CHOICE. It would, obviously, also be THEIR CHOICE to not read threads that will typically be critical of the show that they performed. It's only drum corps, after all--you know, marching band on steroids.
  7. Sam Geati's a pimp, and there's no denying it:
  8. Here's my list of "trite drill formations in 2008." --"The Kite"--diamond shape with curved tail on one end --"Variations on a French Curve" --gating 4 horn players into a straight line --the rotating box --the rotating "box within a box" ........feel free to add your own.
  9. Did anyone else notice Cadets' circle with two straight lines below.......or, as I like to call it, the "giant microphone?"
  10. Oh, Christ--guess what I missed out on a year ago for $8 in Oak Park, thinking I'd be back in a month or so???
  11. Yep.....there's still time to add in the leg wedge!!!!
  12. All I remember from Montreal '81 is that Arc-en-Ciel came to watch us practice every day.
  13. Do you remember the Stevens Point Centralaires???
