  1. Thanks garfield. I meant the FN itself is a huge leap...i remember when the early versions of it came out in 03-04ish time frame with the hope that they'd be able to establish into a pay per view platform, which they thankfully have done. Good to know that DCI operates the Fan network. I would have figured that the platform was licensed to them by another company. But I suppose that's the opportunity...for them to spin it off into a separate venture that can share this with lots of other semi-professional groups (sort of like they did with WGI and tried to do with BOA). Based on what others are posting here, it sounds like they don't really have anyone dedicated to maintaining this platform, which I totally understand the resource constraints behind. But they could expand this project into something much bigger, that could generate revenue for them and allow them to reinvest it into making the FN even more powerful and accessible to the drum corps world.
  2. Does anyone have any connections to anyone on DCI staff? or the company that operates the Fan Network? I think this platform is the biggest success story for DCI in the past decade and I think there's also much bigger ideas waiting here...ie can you imagine if all of this content was available through other subscriber networks on rhapsody/spotify/youtube/xm? I think there's incredible money and potential new listeners waiting for DCI if they go big with this.
  3. oh i absolutely think it will hurt them over time if fans aren't having a great time. But they're probably just banking on the fact that we are a loyal bunch and we'll go regardless
  4. we were in 344. bottom level, near the 15. sounded like you were underwater...had no connection with the performer. got no goosebumps except for SCV's ending. 75 bucks down the drain. In 2008 - had the same situation, but i was standing and screaming the whole time - i heard and saw every effect. i was pretty much electric! def worth the 55 bucks. my guess is that if they opened the roof, LOS would lose a lot of money from the air conditioned air escaping. So its more of a cost saving reason. Either way, I say we ditch that and go to Bloomington or Denver, my personal favs - was sold on EACH show sitting in the worst seats of the stadium. For the next 10 years, i don't think the visitor experience matters much to DCI. They're just trying to stay afloat and i totally support that.
  5. oh really? in all seroiusness i actually liked that...the back wall gave it a nice effect. scared the #### out of me of what was to come.
  6. We love changes throughout the season, but there are some that we'd wish the designers to go back on. Example: Dear Crown, you know at the end of the show where you start playing promise of living again? would you please change the tuba part in that climb as it was in Normal IL. Thank you, your loyal fan So whaddya think?
  7. I'll second this. I thought Cavies had an electric performance that night - it had you clapping, ooh-ahhing all the way to the end. I knew their performance captions weren't as high as BD or Phantom's but i was thinking their GE would put them on top.
  8. I remember an ageout during her age out speech thanked her mom in a way that'll never forget. She started out by saying all the horror stories about parents who cut off all support to their kids for choosing drum corps and etc. And then she thanked her for unconditionally supporting her and covering for tour fees, year after year, for 10 years! Her mother also volunteered a heck of a lot for the corps. Even when she thought she should take a year off, her mother reminded her why she needed to and offer to help her pay for it - i mean it worked for 10 years! I consider some of the volunteers on tour pretty much like my moms away from home - they take care of us almost too well. And even though there is a crazy range of support, I'll never forget what mothers do for this activity. So, Happy Mothers Day!
  9. Asics - Comfortwise they're just the best. They don't hurt your feet after a long day (at least not in my experience) and have a lot of heel support. And they're aired very well, so they dry pretty quick after a rainy day and ventilate in 100 degree weather.
  10. inDEED ....probably the best musical season...ever. I was actually just thinking about that the other day..thinking that if I had to buy one CD, it'd be 04. I can't wait till the next time they have those crazy sales where you buy three or four DVDs and the total turns out to be cheaper than DCT. 04, 02, and 01 are gonna be on the list.
  11. haha that's incredible!!!! i've never been that hooked!
  12. I couldn't agree more, minus the BD 03. If you watch SCV 99, the guard totally completes the moment. The rifles do an awesome toss and then the flags do a toss AFTEr the release of the chord. Its just a chilling moment.
  13. All i have to say is that Drew Shanefield is the perfect addition for that corps.
  14. I'll ditto the Cavies 02 ballad chords, and BD 99 in the second movement. But we've missed on these: BD 04 - 4:52 ..the percussion does wonders for this hornline too BD 04 - 10:46 the chord speaks so clearly!
  15. Well youre prolly right, it probably is the towns fault. But I bet it has a lot more to do with Walmart using their lawyers and managers to find loopholes in towns to get funding which was intended to go to small businesses...how classy of them.
