Synthesizers in drum corps
CUDAKITE replied to camel lips's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Found it... *sigh* Kinda what I was afraid of. One of the reasons I loved drum corps was because of the amazing (and unique) sound that was made by simply brass horns and hitting things. GONE! Now we get fake piano and fake guitar sounds. And this has, in an instant, made something blatantly obvious. There is no point in restricting the instrumentation used on the field anymore. Hell, I would rather hear a real guitar than a fake one anyway... Let's just stop calling it drum and bugle corps, give it a new name and move on already. - -
Hey they fixed it! I take back what I said. Now I'm a very happy cudakite. Thank you!

Not sure it is harder to navigate, but I also miss the scores and placements. Arranging them alphabetically seems lazy or playing it safe. Like arranging by placement might hurt someones feelings?
-
I agree. I don't like how in the archived videos the shows are listed alphabetically by corps. On the plus side, I like the new interface for purchasing the media.

Webcast schedule.

Think you're right. If you select WGI in the pulldown, I think we are looking at our new interface... http://www.thefannetwork.org/index.cfm?network_id=3

59 bucks!? Sweet! This is the third year in a row they have improved the quality of the service AND lowered the price! GJ DCI thanks.

Howdy, Is it, generally speaking, frowned upon to go to where a corps is having a camp just for joy of seeing and hearing drums and horns rehearse? I live in San Antonio and the Crossmen are having a camp this weekend. I really would like to stop by and just check things out, but I don't want to be rude. I mean, they don't come to my office and stare at me while I work...

Fan Network survey from Acheson . . .

I suggested having an option to pay more for higher quality video/audio. Not change the base price or quality, just add a premium-uber membership or something. - -

Spirit Announces 2009 Program
CUDAKITE replied to Whoa_Mellophone_2012's topic in DCI World Class Corps Discussions
Agreed. Spirit has had the least memorable shows for me the last two years. This show certainly has the potential to change that. "high-energy & accessible" seem like a worthy goal for Spirit. I wish them success. -
Yes, but were they Drum Corps loud? -
-
Blue Knight's site is the most aesthetically pleasing to my eyes. Seems nicely organized too and not cluttered.

How does the sound quality compare to the CDs? Is one better than the other? Or about the same? Does widescreen make a noticeable difference? Do you have surround sound? If so, does it sound like the 5 channels were mixed well? ...and of personal interest, how do the horn lines sound? (I'm a horn player)
