  1. No it won't. San Antonio is not a regional this year. It's a two night deal no different than Houston or Dallas. It will decide nothing. DCI went for the money grab instead of keeping the regional intact. ...and buying into the G7 mentality btw.
  2. Seems like that might be the highlight of you're trip...
  3. Wow bummer. So tomorrow is not going to happen... and San Antonio is screwed up this year. We have to wait till Atlanta for all the WC corps to be at the same show??
  4. Gawd!! What a ridiculous year to try to predict! Gotta say MikeD's list looks about right to me. Maybe I'd switch Glassmen/Madison... You all seem to be in a state of denial. The Blue Devils WILL win again. Everyone else is same-ol' same-ol' compared to their show. Unfortunately their music is everything unlikeable about the blue devils x 10. But that doesn't mean it won't be preformed well or that they wont be the best executing corps on the field. -
  5. Only gripe- The 'Kid'. I get he's integral to the story, but him running around making a HUGE spectacle of himself for almost the entire show ends up being more of an unavoidable distraction for me than a function of story telling. Seems like such a great show with a lot of fun stuff going on. I just hope I can learn to look past the over enthusiastic Disneyland character.
  6. Yes, the 'plus' subscription includes the live webcasts. I wouldn't worry about the prices being listed.
  7. Any impressions of the show beyond 'they were great' ?
  8. Wow crazy, I can't think of any show music I've disliked more... How the heck are you supposed to find any kind of emotional attachment to any of that???
  9. LOL that's exactly what will happen. And the fat heads wont be able to comprehend that they were the problem. After all, they are already convinced that they are the solution.
  10. Ah ha! You're on to me. That IS the exact argument I would make against synths (not amplification). Notice I didn't say Adding synthesizers - Wonderful. The activity is Drum and Bugle Corps. When I say redefine I don't mean redefine drum and bugle corps, I mean redefine the activity as to where it is no longer drum and bugle corps beyond just a matter of perspective. All other changes have been evolutionary. Like I said, I'm all for progress. I quote Stu here: Synthesizers really were a big deal folks. Now that they are allowed there is no legitimate argument against woodwinds. Last year Synths made their debut, next year we will see our first woodwinds in a drum and bugle corps show. Which brings me back you my original point. Why do some people want to get rid of Drum Corps and only have Marching band?? So to Granny - I'm against woodwinds but I should not be labled and traditionalist. I love progress WITHIN Drum and Bugle Corps.
  11. I'm all for progress. Adding valves - great! Spinning flags in the air - cool! Asymmetric drill - Awesome! Completely changing the instrumentation make-up of the activity - NOPE. That is NOT progress! THAT IS REDEFINITION. Before us we have two great activities. 1. Drum Corps 2. Marching Band. I like both of them. Why are some people so hell bent on eliminating one of these activities???
  12. LOL. Brilliant. Count me in! Hearing woodwinds in a drum corps show would be absolutely horrible for many audience members.
  13. I guess they have nothing new to talk about... Or it is dieing out. That seems doubtful though.
  14. Very cool, Thanks to Phantom for sharing this. It's also on the fan network.
  15. Why the heck are people trying to counter my point about the no-longer championship by bringing up Allentown? (Thanks Randy) Sorry I brought up the weather. It's HARDLY the main issue I have. It's that they nerfed the whole championship. Dallas and Houston determined performance order and San Antonio Settled the score. It's a big moment when the top ranked corps get to face off head to head for the first time. I wish DCI's priority was to keep the integrity of the championship intact Instead of finding a clever way to squeeze as much money as possible out of both nights. Before last year San Antonio use to be split in two, morning and evening. Seems like a simple way to split up the two nights. $20 night 1, $50 night 2. Done.
  16. So let's see pay $90 instead of $55 to see the same corps spend the whole weekend slowly roasting in south Texas July heat. not even a championship show, really. Guess we will have two 'champions' by the end of the weekend?
  17. WTH!? Why are they splitting the corps up like this?? How in the hell is this a championship? Oh and great price drop for half the corps per show... ugh, I'm like really upset right now... deep breaths cudakite, deep breaths...
  18. Well, if they split the two nights up in straight sequential ranking order (Day 1: 23-11 / Day 2: 10-1), night 2 might still be a heck of a show... I mean it's the regional championship. I doubt they are going to split the corps between to two nights like they did in Dallas / Houston.
  19. Bummer. I never actually heard, why is the show a week latter than it was last year?
  20. Why?? You can absolutely count on horrible weather in San Antonio in July... Why would they have it anywhere other than the dome?? I sure hope this is just because of a scheduling problem for this year and not the new norm. I loved the San Antonio show just the way it was. Why are they screwing with it!
  21. From personal experience, The first show that really impressed my wife (a drum corps noob) was Cavaliers' 2002 Frameworks. So much so that the Cavaliers are her favorite corps to this day. ...which pains me because I'm a Blue Devil fan.
  22. Does any know who I could call to get a ballpark idea of when tickets might go on sale? Days, weeks, months?
