    Since SCV hasn't won a medal since 2004, it really hasn't happened the way it has this year.

    I'll never forget visiting with several Crossmen members in a dorm recreation hall at 1979 DCI Midwest in Whitewater. Crossmen and Spirit had toured out to California together the previous week. It was a nasty tour for Crossmen, with bus breakdowns, etc. One of their contra players told me how close Crossmen and Spirit got that week, with Spirit coming to the rescue with a bus, etc. You could tell he was amazed by the camaradarie that took place that week, (and when he told me, I was equally amazed) and how great to see it's still going on in 2017!

    There were some great stories about the total solar eclipse of July, 1963, which occurred in the northeastern part of the country. There was a documented story about a drum corps show out that way that was going on right during totality of the eclipse. I don't have the details at present, but you can imagine the excitement that happened that day!

    I had never heard that it was the Blue Stars that did that. I know Crossmen and Blue Stars were touring together in those southern DCI shows in August of 76.
