MsBusDriver
I marched from 1969-78 !!!Went from a one valve baritone to a valve and rotor contra !!!! I actually started '69 Winter Guard (SCV B Guard) and my last year was '75. Your comment hit me and made me stop to think that I went from a metal pole with a wicked metal pike to a fiber glass pole with door stoppers on both ends (well, actually BIG door stoppers on both ends). Progress, progress. Too bad though because I actually had more muskles from using the metal pole than the fiberglass. And so it was... dc oldtimer
In the most important decade in the history of drum corps., the 70's. Amer. Legion and VFW - OUT! DCI - In It was the 70's where, IMHO, the most drastic changes in what was performed on the field took place. Ya, there were corps throughout the 80's, 90's and 00's that "take the activity to a different level" but it was the 70's corps that made what the activity is today. Yep, I'm proud. :)
Puppet
I marched from 1963 to 1965 in the St. Catherine of Sienna Queenaires Drum and Bugle Corps. a class "B" corps that was started by the alum of the famed Queensmen. Then from 1966 to 1968 in St Joseph Patron Cadets who were disbanded and reformed as St. Rita's Brassmen. I aged out in 1972. Best years of my life. We competed against all the big guns in the East of the time and although we didn't win a lot, we made a lot of other corps nervous.
