It was the highest 7th place score in the history of Drum Corps International, if I'm not mistaken. Also a higher score than 2006.

Scores are relative from year to year though.......They always say it's about finding the right placement for the corps first and foremost.

Yeah, I mean, I just dug up this thread because I thought it was interesting to see what John Q. Public stood thought in the weeks preceding Finals. As someone who's never been on these boards in late July/August (been marching as long as I've been on here) it was kind of intriguing to see what people were saying, which shows people were talking about, and how people thought it was all going to end up in the end. It had nothing (really) to do with vindicating or crucifying the OP.

I personally think that if coming in 7th is considered to be a lower placing year for the corps then that`s actually pretty good and something many corps strive for... i mean.. cavies 97 came in 7th.. didn`t seem to slow them down much.

Obviously the op`s prediction was valid.. since bluecoats did in fact come in 7th.

At the time - Coats were in a fairly solid 4th, with top brass and percussion scores. My analysis

coming into finals week was that 7th was a very small possibility due to how closely everyone

was scoring, but it seemed very unlikely to me that they would actually end up at the bottom

of that 4 through 7 pile.

not exactly true... they did come in 1st in the overall music caption for most of the year, but at the end they were coming in second to other corps... Solid 4th would have been if they have 2 pointed Crown the week before, but instead it was only .5 the week before, and Crown was closing in their gap on higher placing corps quicker than Bluecoats were... the rate that SCV and Crown were increasing their scores by, as compared to the top scoring corps, was quicker than bluecoats... so 7th shouldn't have been to far of a stretch of the imagination... just like putting them in 6th for 06 wouldnt have been to far of a stretch...

It appears my subtle prediction went unnoticed. Lucky me...

Wow! You are some kind of sorcerer.
