skajerk
Gotta agree. I loved this show before it was added. I even wrote the director to let him know how I felt about this years show comapred to shows of the past, (and got a very nice email in return). Now, most of you out there know I can't stand amplified voice so I was a little concerened when I found out they added the narration. Well, hearing the show at semis removed that concern. Loved it! I'd like to add Bluecoats to this list as well. The only 2 shows that I've loved with an amp'd voice
zachariaswmb
Funny, the distinction of "narration" and "announcing". Well, we can't call it narration because all narration is bad. Therefore, were it narration, we would need to change our view. And that just can't happen! :P

whitcccg34567
I and many other people here are not proponents of amplified human voice. I want to set that aside for one moment, and give huge kudos to someone. I have no idea who it is, but he deserves props. The kid that did the horse race call for Crown nailed it. Absolutely nailed it. No matter if you think that the inclusion of the corps references was cool or poor, whatever. When I heard that kid do that call, it was the backstretch, and he absolutely got it right. His inflection was excellent, his pace was on target, his projection was generally clear and as clear as any finishing call I've heard.I got the horserace and photo finish before they added it. It made sense, so I didn't need to hear it. But if a corps is ever going to do something like that, they did it right. I will say that in my personal opinion, it's the first use of voice that has truly added to the story, without being the story. But the important thing here isn't the use, the concept, or the idea. It's about the kid, and absolutely pegging a final call. Nails. Congratulations, whoever you are. That was pretty ####### cool. that would be marshall woody! he aged out this yr, 5th yr member. he is amazing!
27/soa
It's fun to watch the Asst. DM hustle from the back sideline to get to the mike to "call" the race! Edited August 28, 2007 by 27/soa
tubamann
No, it was Mark Whitfield, Assistant Drum Major. Marshall was the trumpet player who played the call to the post. Nails every time!
