Who was the guy who called everyone a Pencil Neck Geek? He was one of my favorite characters. Never mind, it was Freddie Bassie, I believe. NYSkyliner
If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter) If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint. When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit... C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE?? For a little more insight on the workings of this thread check out pg. 790 post #7894. Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. Please spew your venom elsewhere. Thanx in advance! All that said and out of the way... Guess Who # 254 ? Okay 5 days and 5 pages later I think it's time to name these people. On the left is Gene "Nature Boy" Cerretta (sp) and on the right is Mike "Charley Bratton" DelVecchio AKA Mr. Carol Smith.
TomKaye
Mike ---- I'm an occasional reader & a very infrequent poster on DCP. Apparently, the word of Gene Cerreta's passing on 12/26/08 has not gotten circulated. Please see below. I first met Gene through Mackenzie Post and the Bridgemen more than 40 years ago. He & Gussie were great guys and positively influenced a number of Bayonne yoot. May they both Rest in Peace. Please visit the Notice for Eugene Cerreta. http://obits.nj.com/Link.asp?I=LS000121874882X

December 2008 is truly a somber month in Drum Corps. "Cozy" Baker, Bernie Halgas, "Nature Boy". There was another passing out here in Western Pa. Carl Seidell (sp) passed away as well. He was a great Drum Corps personality. Had played "Taps" and taught a lot of kids how to get a sound out of a bugle in his day, much like Seacaucus Gussie. He was great friends with Marvin Hamlich (sp)(or so he says:-) and had played "Taps" during one of Marvin's stage shows. Marvin is the arranger/conductor of the symphony orchestra out here. Steel City members have also had a number of family members pass as well. One lost both of his parents pass away just before Christmas as well. I deeply understand that feeling as both my stepfather and mother passed away within one week of each other in 2007. My stepfather passed away Dec. 19th and my mother passed away Christmas day evening at approximately 11:30 PM, just as she wanted, Christmas day. Now Gene and Gussie are in the same lead soprano line again. I'm sure that Gene was in Heaven a good half hour before the devil found out he was gone. On another note, Happy Holidays to you and Debbie. Edited January 3, 2009 by NYSkyliner

Donny Then I apologize for my over eager response to you my dearest friend. You know I love you. We do have a very special connection. But you STILL play like a sissie. Get a mouthpiece with a deeper cup. Edited January 3, 2009 by NYSkyliner
