From a whippoorwill up on a hill they took a new note,

If you *know* who it is.... please wait a while (not everyone is on here all day or even daily for that matter)

If there have been no Guesses..........Then give a *challenging* hint.

When giving hints on these try to be creative and just dangle the tiniest tidbit. Make people really think / work on it. Then wait it out a while before tossing another tiny vague tidbit...

C'mon we've got to make these last a little longer. PLEASE??

For a little more insight on the workings of this thread check out pg. 790 post #7894.

Also, any comments made MUST be made in good taste... this is a fun loving thread... not a revenge match. Please spew your venom elsewhere.

Please submit any questions and / or pics in their full size (preferably JPG format), with full description - names, Corps, Stadium, Year... etc. to: The *Guess Who* Mailbox

Thanx in advance!

All that said and out of the way...

The publicity-shy Blue Notes from the Michigan Upper Peninsula city of Ishpeming are one of drum corps' best-kept secrets.

The Blue Notes junior corps was formed on Halloween night 1957, and folded after the 1976 season.

In a once-thriving circuit of U.P. corps, they shared powerhouse status with the Menominee Northernaires. They also won state American Legion titles competing against Lower Peninsula groups, but never toured out of their area.

A Blue Notes reunion party in 1984 led to the formation of one of the very first alumni corps in our activity.

They competed in only one field contest, which they hosted in 1995. Their drum instructor Wayne Oien has attended sevral DCAs, placing near the top in snare drum solo competition.

The Blue Notes Alumni Corps, with generous assistance from a bank sponsor, is sporting their second set of 3-valve bugles and their third set of retro satin uniforms.

The Alumni Corps has been in existence longer than the junior corps !!!

True to form, they rarely appear in the Lower 48. And also true to form, they are annually inactive during all the months surrounding deer hunting season.
