Lance P
DCPers, As Staff Coordinator of the Spartans, let me tell you that there's some great educating going on across the board by this year's instructional staff. We are a very enthusiastic group thrilled to be given this teaching opportunity. Many of you know that former Spartans have followed their staff members (my mentors) to the Citations, to whom I wish my best. My close friends grew up marching the corps and it's great to see they'll be more competitive for 2008! On the other hand, the defending champions from NH have fewer members on account of this exodus. By the way, be careful what you read because our Open House attracted 97 attendees (30 less than other post-championship years) which is pretty good for the small city of Nashua! We'd love to field a full corps, but whether 20 or 200, we're committed to making the 2008 season a great one. I'd like to invite former Spartans, anyone checking out other corps, and those simply "on the fence" about marching to come to our rehearsals and play through show music (such a good Mackey show!) on new horns, learn from the "new blood" on staff, and meet new people who say "ya'll." The January Camps in the area don't conflict so check 'em all out and see for yourself what we're about rather than relying on mass emails and phone calls. I'm extremely devoted to do what I can for you and my corps, so email me with any questions, comments, and concerns! z321z
Wow, what a change for Spartans. I was under the impression that Spartans was a drum corps that did not use DCP. Must be desperate times up in Nashua...

Eddie
why is that? It's not uncommon for a corps to go through changes. My best to the Spartans. A high class organization from the ground up. 'tis a sad state of affairs for a former championship group.
liebot
Time of transition? Yes. That doesn't necessarily mean that they're going down the drain or 2008 will be terrible or anything. Sometimes I wish people on DCP weren't so quick to be cynical and negative about everything they hear from a corps. If nothing else, we can be extremely glad that the Spartans are fielding a corps this year and aren't being forced down the road that so many other Div 2/3 corps have had to travel down (folding/reforming etc.). Good luck to the Spartans in '08, and hopefully this will be the start of a new staff dynasty in New England.

Lance P
A big "thank you" to those supporting the corps! You are right in knowing that we haven't used DCP in the past. Our members will continue to remain out of sight seeing as we still enjoy a sense of mystery . As acting herald of the organization, however, I'd have to be insanus Lancus not to suggest using DCP as a recruiting tool. Things are looking pretty good for the corps, simply it's pretty clear that when your main source of membership is lost, it's necessary to look elsewhere such as new schools, states, and even cyberspace. DCP reaches far and wide and it's a great way to both address and reach out to the Drum Corps Community. Call me inexperienced if you wish, but I know enough to do all I can to see the corps succeed. txtubadude
'tis a sad state of affairs for a former championship group. Impulse had staff change last year due to VK coming out while being defending champs. 2005 Raiders were defending champs and I am sure they had some staff changes. Everyone has changes, it's called adaptation. I'm sure Spartans will be fine, just have to push through any challenge. It may be rough, but in the end, drum corps is still drum corps, no matter if it be with the same staff, or 90% rookies. Best of luck Spartans. Harvey
Good luck, Spartans. I hope you maintain the awesome level of performance you are famous for. Open Clas needs corps like you that can scare the $#&! out of the World Class corps .
