elphaba01
(I didn't say first, I just asked if there was one...)Anyway: Yes on both San Francisco Post (VFW 1932) San Gabriel Dons (AL 1935)! (And just to prove it wasn't a fluke, the Dons won the ALs again in 1937...) Ok, here's an easy one: Post-WWII, name the senior corps to win both AL and VFW National Titles... (There are 2 I know of...) "VFW & Legion Senior Champion": One of the "Two" is the Reilly Raiders. Elphaba WWW

Diceman
Are you counting Westshoremen Ron? Corps was known as the Longshoremen when they won VFW in 1952. Then the Longshoremen Union heard about the corps and sued for using the name. Then Westshoremen won AL in 1978. Actually, yes I was... Reilly and West(Long)shoremen... Here's one: In 1958, Mitch Miller (yes, *that* Mitch Miller) said this senior corps had the best brass section he'd ever heard...

TomPeashey
Since 1958 was way early in Mitch Miller's career and since I have the "inside" knowledge that he was from Rochester... I'll guess the Rochester Grey Knights but really... Skokie or Cabs makes more sense...

LOL, it's no fun having read the answers to DC Trivia game and have both History of DC books..... Tom, you're in the right state but I don't know NY geography that well to tell how close you might be...
Martybucs
Can I add a question? Here's an obscure bit of trivia. Buccaneers are doing Beethoven's 9th Symphony excerpts this year. What was the last piece written by Beethoven that Buccaneers performed? There have been a few J.S. Bach warmups, but this was an excerpt from a Beethoven symphony. Naturally, I would assume someone that played it would know.
ajlisko
Actually, yes I was... Reilly and West(Long)shoremen... Actually, there's a third ... Reading ... they won the VFW in 60-61-62 and the the AL as a sanctioned DCA show in Scranton in 80 or 81 (not DCA finals) ... Almo Sebastianelli ran the show ...
