Schickmeister
Depends if i were in that corps or not!
contrajedi8
Will never happen. I assume someone is trying to make a coorelation between drum corps and the recent Super Bowl. The thing with professional sports that drum corps doesn't have is that any team can be beat on any given night. There is not an objective (sorta) third party determining the results. Besides, if a corps has gone all season without loseing, they're not going to lose on finals night.
Latrobe's Finest
It happened to Pioneer in Div II in the '90s. I'd feel bad for the corps.
idlethreats
Didn't Southwind win in 1992? I absolutely love that show. Is there a video out there of that show? I'd love to see it.
cccmommy
BD '88. That was the year that they didn't announce prelim scores. We were undefeated going into prelims and didn't find out we had lost until after finals. I don't recall our prelims placement but we came in third at finals. OUCH! Many thanks to the guys from VK 's drumline who graciously shared the Jack Daniels with me before retreat. I didn't realize how much I was gonna need it that night. Vanguard07
I think it would definitely be quite a bittersweet season if a corps won every competition and then lost finals.

Prelim Scores 1)97.80 2)96.60 Blue Devils 3)96.30 Also found this: 1973 Santa Clara Vanguard had won 24 out of 25 competitions during the season, including the Championship finals, despite being beaten in horn execution by the 18th place Purple Lancers in prelims.
