Gary Matczak
As Gary said....7000 concert side. What hasn't been mentiond is how Vet's stadium is almost accoustically perfect for drum corps' AND the fans. Newest artificial surface available is also a plus. ........no running track, so the front row is like front row orchestra seats, just enough room for the pit and a conductors stand,.....the solid concrete seating (most below grade) makes for unbelievable live acoustics! Sounds like a perfect stadium and locale. Hard to believe a spot can't be found for this on the schedule.
Gary Matczak
Sounds like a perfect stadium and locale.Hard to believe a spot can't be found for this on the schedule. well, we've floated the idea out there a few times,..................many moons would have to align,...........but it could be a great inter-regional contest, with a great venue at a very low cost, in comprison to venues of the like,...............a couple drawbacks are spectator parking, you have to search and walk a little,..........and the facility will NOT allow libations onsite.......... Canuck DCGroupie
I know about 50-100 Canadians would come down to this show. We could shop tax free all day and go to the show at night. The perfect weekend!
ajlisko
well, we've floated the idea out there a few times,..................many moons would have to align,...........but it could be a great inter-regional contest, with a great venue at a very low cost, in comprison to venues of the like,...............a couple drawbacks are spectator parking, you have to search and walk a little,..........and the facility will NOT allow libations onsite.......... 7,000 seats concert side? ... perfect acoustics? ... football field? ... how's the hotel situation? ... sounds like Erie should host the DCA Championships instead of just a regional show ... :-)

Dale Bari
7,000 seats concert side? ... perfect acoustics? ... football field? ... how's the hotel situation? ... sounds like Erie should host the DCA Championships instead of just a regional show ...:-) Just check those airfare prices to Erie International first. I suppose one could fly into Buffalo, Cleveland, or Pittsburgh, but then you'd have to drive a long way still. The hotels may not be able to handle all of the influx. Mr. Buell could educate us on the exact number of hotels and rooms DCA uses up in Rochester, but the list looks mighty long. As someone pointed out (and I have experienced first hand) the parking is pretty tough. I'm not sure the stadium area could absorb that number of vehicles. The stadium is wonderful for drum corps, but DCA Finals would be a tough row to hoe. Pittsburgh would be a better locale. Even <gulp> Cleveland. JimF-LowBari
How did the corps handle parking the buses during the show? Haven't been there since 1985 ICA (about 10 corps and a monsoon) but seems like the buses either totally disappeared or were hiding from the cops on the streets behind the prison looking part of the stadium.
