Galen Posted July 15, 2008 Share Posted July 15, 2008 I marched with a girl contra player in my year at Pioneer- sadly she tore a rotator cuff in July of that year and had to miss the rest of the season Regarding girl snares, I've seen a couple here and there, most notably a couple years ago when Bluecoats' center snare was a girl. The weights vary depending on the horn maker. I believe heaviest I ever heard was around 45 pounds. The significantly out weigh any horn out there but there is a lot of respect between a contra/Tuba player and a euphonium player. That is because the euphonium takes your arms further out than any other horn and it is extremely bell heavy. I marched with a contra chick two out of the three years I marched.
