Lancerlady
1987 DCI Finals in Madison:"Since when were majorettes allowed in drum corps? Before you know it, they'll allow woodwinds too, and this activity will be just like marching band!!!" The person who said it marched in the Chicago Royal Airs in the 60's. (I wonder if this person has been to I&E lately??) One of SCV's guard members breifly twirled a baton that year during "Festive Overture." A friend of mine gave me a picture of the 1982 Memphis Blues after our show in Montreal. The front line guys were holding batons in the picture because they used them mocking band in the parade part of our show. I thought it was funny of them to do that. The Green Cymbal
At 1990 Quarterfinals in Buffalo: Star of Indana opens the prop with "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin" written on it. (I hope I spelled this correctly) Little girl to her mother: "Look Mommy, Chinese!" 1990 Mid America Regional in Bloomington with "Mr. Know It All" sitting behind me. Troopers enter the field: "This corps is all male and began as a boy scout organization" Madison enters the field: "This corps is known as the Green Machine" Bluecoats enter the field: "This corps is know as the Blue Crew" It was everything I could do to not turn around and correct him. LOL 1995 Semi Finals in Buffalo Madison during the guard box stomping section Person down the row yells "YOU GO GIRL!!!" 2004 Finals in Denver During Crowns narration segment Person a few seats in front of me: "That boy would put a lisp in the word cracker!" Lancerlady
I would've corrected him politely...lol. But that's just me. I'm bold like that. I love the Star of Indiana one though...funny.
elliotdo
Inspired by some comments made in my section last night at semifinals:(Before Cadets) Guy: I can see 'em just fine, George! (Before the Cavaliers) Guy 1: Blue Samurai's going down! Guy 2 (a few rows in front): More than you'll ever know... What humorous quips have you heard audience members deliver at shows you've been to over the years? Last night as The Cadets started their narration something about how Sarah found her happiness a lady behind be shouted, "Who cares?!" I had to laugh out loud!! What did "Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin" mean anyway? Based on their uniforms, I think it meant "I'm going to blow up the earth." with my Pew-36 space modulator http://www.gargaro.com/MaRvInWaVs/goody.wav

It is from "The Bible" and those words appeared on a wall in the ancient city of Babylon after the king (don't ask me how to spell his name, it is long and begins with an "N") drank from the sacred vessels and was condemed by God. It is the source of todays common phrase "Read the writing on the wall". Anyone else have an answer?
