jjeffeory
I'll stick with older shows because the newer shows will probably get many votes and are still fresh in people's minds. Here are some classic shows that everyone should see soon. Try: Cavaliers 1988, 1989, 1990 Bluecoats 87, 89, 95 Cadets 1985, 1992, 1995, 2000 Blue Devils 1988, 1990,1991, 1995 Phantom 1987, 1988, 1993 SCV 1986, 1988, 1990. 1997 Madison 1985, 1987 Edited August 11, 2008 by jjeffeory
sds554
it'd be helpful if we all said why we were picking these shows.

kusankusho
Yes it is I'm an SCV fan and for the finals performance, no, it isn't. Love the show, but there were problems out there that night. Watch the DVD and you'll see them.

jthomas666
Just a couple of lesser known shows that need some love. Cavies mid 80s -- This is when they started making the transition from a lower-tier crowd-pleaser to contender. Particularly 1986 (?), which featured a magnificent performance of "Variations on a Korean Folk Song" Madison 1983, for the biggest, baddest version of Strawberry Soup ever. Phantom 93 -- In addition to killing masses of the Roman legions, Spartacus 08 also bumped this show off the top spot of my favorite Phantom shows. It starts slow, but once it kicks in (trust me, you'll know when), it's breathtaking. Spirit 1980 -- Ladies and gentlemen, THAT is a wall of sound. Actually, you really can't go wrong with ANY of the finalists this year. 27th Lancers 1981 -- Possibly their best show ever, featuring a blistering version of Niner-two. This show, which came in 4th at finals, could have taken the crown.
jthomas666
According to DCI download data and some of the "Countdown' votes, it is, however, the most popular. . .along with 1989 being the best selling Legacy DVD year. Well, duh! That DVD has 89 Phantom. ;)
PR_ducky
ok here we go. Needless to say anything by Regiment gets my approval. 87 Cadets - LOVE appalachian Spring 94 BD - what a horn line 88 SCV - cause its WAY better than 89 89, 96 Regiment -no explanation needed 95 Regiment - WAY underrated show 87 Star - the circus bear and the pink elephant crack me up 95 Madison - Mid season I thought for sure they would win. what a great show. 86 Troopers - I just like this one. way too many to name actually, but this is a good start The reason 89 legacy DVD is a top seller is because the top 12 were amazing that year from top to bottom. very rare that happens. I think this years DVD will be a huge seller as well as all the top 12 had great shows. As far as 88 vs 89 SCV there is a topic in the historical section. The OVERWHELMING consensus is 88 was the better show. There is another on there somewhere about 89 SCV vs PR and last I looked PR had the nod. Lancerlady
1985, 1986, 1987 and 1988 SCV 1989 the whole frickin DVD... 1981 and 1982 Phantom Regiment to see how the Spartacus has changed over the years. I fell in love with the shows back then and even love it more today. 1977 27th Lancers (Rocky show), 1980 27th Lancers, 1981 27th Lancers 1979 Blue Stars 1975. 1988, 1995 Madison Scouts 1980 1988 Blue Devils, (Old school jazz) 1985, 1995 Cavaliers and the year they did James Bond 1989, 1991 Star of Indiana 1986 Troopers I'm sure I'll think of some more, but please check out 1989, that was a great year for drum corps of the entire top 12 imo.
