1) You belong to a corps that doesn't allow you to make any comment at all on the internet.

that's the first reason i can think of.

Well then the person should abide by the corps they chose to march in and not post. Plain and simple. Besides, as someone who has been caught up in more then my share of stupid arguments, me being the stupid one........its just not worth it. Doing it under a pseudo name is just plain sneaky.

You are proud of the corps you march in, you respect their history and everything that goes with it, why not respect their rules? Just to come here and stick up for yourself and corps to a bunch of people behind keyboards? What difference does it make anyhow, people are going to have their opinions, no matter how silly WE may feel they are, and a war of words on DCP does no good. Again, I am guilty - I'm hoping some can learn from my mistakes.

And exactly WHAT is that?? But don't despair...it's just getting close to the season opener and certain folks are beginning to bristle at the thought of another season of Reading domination. The memory of being a pretender to the throne, only to find your hopes dashed by a late third place finish is becoming too much to bear....

I have no clue who the heck you are but it is clear you are talking about the Statesmen in that statement. Guess what the Statesmen are a world class organization and I marched w/ the Reading buccaneers in 2004 and then went to march for the statesmen. Guess what you can bag on the statesmen all you want b/c your a bucs fan, and your high onlife after a 4peat but guess what. Every single corps in dca is differnet. We were not upset that we took third yes a brief moment of shock but i didn't see the buccaneers congratulate MBI on a well deserved 2nd place finish. We are out there to be fan favorites and statesmen are exactly that fan favorites!!! Buccs are good but i would rather be fan favorites then win any day. So i wouldn't diss a corps until you hae marched in that organization and no what exactly your talking about!!!! We don't pretned anything...we are who we are and we represent that no matter what we do!!!

I must say that I do apologize for the post in question. Statesmen obviously work very hard and do turn out a very entertaining package year after year. As much as the finish was disappointing, you deserve to be proud. However (you knew this was coming right?), my post was part in response to the fact that it seems to me, and some others, that anytime there is a thread/post praising the accomplishments of a 4 time undefeated DCA champion, some folks who seem to be Empire fans/members/alumni percieve it as some sort of knock on everyone else. BTW, I'm not some rabid Bucs fan who dresses like captain hook...I do however consider them to be the class of the circuit right now and arguably have the most impressive run of all time.

As a general rule, we stay out of controversies on message boards. So allow me to break that rule...

As most regulars on DCP know, it is difficult to not get dragged into a futile argument with mostly Shadow opponents that even the Voice of Reason can’t win.

All it takes is some Big Old Drummer to drop D’Bomb on the boards and before you know it, a Rabbit comes running out of the Bush, faster than a Jetta, squealing louder than a High Brass line.

How about if everyone just puts on a nice Hawaiian shirt and enjoys a delicious turkey dinner, instead of acting like Godzilla? Kay?

Sorry if I left anyone out.

Good luck to all the DCA corps this season. There is no secret to success in drum corps. May the best corps win and may my corps be the best corps.

My opinions, my statement.

Dan the Man!

I know where you come from. You make me proud!

Ok - I give up, WHAT?

Guess!

That did make me a little cross-eyed...

I personally think that if any other corps in DCA adopted the same exact rehearsal schedule as the Reading Buccaneers have, they'd excel. I am no Bucs fan, I personally don't like their shows - they're cookie cutters with different dough. The Bucs don't have any more talent than the next guy, just like MBI, Statesmen, or Renegades...although they do have Bonnie; but the Bucs practice like no other and I have to give that to them.

Watching DCA Finals has been painful for me these last couple years. It is the same #####, different year.. Aside from the Bucs, the entire circuit has been pretty stagnant lately; and even the Bucs are stagnant to me, they just managed to squeak ahead of everyone else in 2005 with their design. Just like Christine was saying...when you change the formula, something's gotta give. The Brigs went from winning to not winning. The Bucs went from not winning to winning. They're obviously not going to change their formula for a while, and judging by the past few years, no one else is willing to make that change (except for maybe the Hurcs this past year).

I really, really hope that someone will.

It might have something to do with that Yuengling, too...
