Aaron Goldberg, brass caption head, is excited to have 42 returning members in the hornline this year. He says, “This is a return rate of 67% of the eligible students from the 2008 hornline.” The percussion section is also benefitting from 19 veterans in the drumline and front ensemble.

The corps worked throughout the weekend on "Forbidden" which is the title of the 2009 Tour Production. "We made great progress this weekend in learning music for the show. The corps also learned some drill on Saturday, thanks to some great weather, said Corps Director Mark Chambers.

This is very exciting.

When you consider what last year's corps was able to do with a lot of rookies, I like the prospects of what it can do with this many vets.

Watch out.

That's more vets in the hornline than they've had in the whole corps the past two years.

the poster above said that The Crossmen have " 42 returning horn vets ".

Your follow up comment to that is " That's more vets ( 42 ) in the hornline than they've had in the whole corps the past two years ".

You might want to either rephrase your comments or recheck your facts, as there is no way in the world that this comment is remotely close to being accurate.

The number of vets in the hornline for the 2009 (42) is more than the number of vets they have had in the entire corps for either the 2007 or 2008 seasons. Yes, that is correct.

Edit: So I just did some fact-checking. I should say that the number of vets in the hornline for the 2009 season is roughly equal to the number of vets in the corps for either the 2007 or 2008 seasons.

This IS very accurate.

And the fact that there are 19 coming back in the percussion section is almost unheard of for the Crossmen...well since 2004 anyway. All 9 snares are vets this year in fact.

I think they even have some 07 vets returning for 09 who didn't march 08 in some sections.

Very promising season indeed.
