stansea
My favorites are: The Long Island "Hellgaters" who competed in the Garden State Circuit. (I mean really, who would encourage their kid to play in a corps from Hell?!?) A midwestern corps (formed from a merger of three drum corps) called "The Thing" who competed in the early days of DCI. bluecoats88
New Day is from Racine. They used to be all girl, but are coed now.I would have to say the most obscure for me would be the Pages of the Wausaw Story (their cadet corps). I think Wausaw Story had about 5 or 6 horns in '82 when we saw them. Pioneer III ranks up there too! New Day is still around? wow
84BDsop
No mention of Nightfire??? Hey, Jeff! We won something!!
Legolaus
what small corps? Calgary Cavaliers. The year was 1979.
84BDsop
New Day is still around? wow Corpsreps lists them as inactive, with only a 1997 listing...but they could've gone the parade corps route, which would take them off Corpsreps radar. Northern Thunder
New Day is still active as a corps, and has been around since 1973.
steelcityrabbit
I know that nobody will mention my Division Street All Star Marching Brigade because hardly anyone ever saw us. I do remember a small corps out of the Canton OH. area sponsored by the police that back in the 70's, we (Gen Butler Vagabonds) would beat by 20 to 30 points. I think that they were called "Bluecoats?" Wonder what ever happened to them? Anyone seen them lately?
bass5
I marched in the Eau Claire Boys in the late 60's and we competed in what I remember being called the "northern circuit" which was basically northern Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Some of the "more obscure" corps I remember are: The Blue Notes, Ishpeming, Mi Brass Regiment, Park Falls, Wi Mountaineers, Ontonogan, Mi Northernaires, Menominee, Mi Silver Echoes. Munising, Mi Bells of St. Marys, Rhinelander, Wi Others off the top of my head from "down south" near Milwaukee were The Windjammers, Port Washington, Wi St. Mathias, Milw Shoreliners, Kenosha, Wi Queensmen, Kenosha, Wi I believe the only representation from this list on DCP I remember seeing is someone from the Northernaires. If there are any Eau Claire Boys out there June 20th there will be a reunion in E.C. followed by a show Sunday night the 21st at UW Stout. As well as Marty's Goldenaires Srs. in exhibition, they are still going strong and have been since the days of Herbert Hoover. There was also a Jr. corps in Hurley WI. And in Hayward WI was the Muskie Capitol Cadets, who premiered Ernie Carrol's innovation in 1962 ---- the G-F bugle.
