Glassmen parent here...

Just talked to daughter on phone. She is on a glassmen bus, and is unaware of anything happening to the other busses. She says when they have even the slightest problem, all the busses pull off. This has not happened yet. So she is ok and has no other info.

Two Chicago media outlets have confirmed this indeed happened. Check the links earlier in this thread.

There's a report of it on dci.org...apparently it was the volunteer bus and the buses with the members continued on to the housing site.

Per Brian Hickman the Corps Director there was a crash but the details reported are not completly correct. Please go to the Glassmen website and the news is there. It was the volunteer bus and it seems the driver was injured. Thanks for all the concern and well wishes.

Glassmen volunteer bus involved in accident

Friday, June 26, 2009 - 7:17 AM

Drum Corps International has been informed by Glassmen executive director Brian Hickman that the Glassmen volunteer bus was involved in an accident just a little while ago.

The driver was taken to the hospital for possible injuries. Three other volunteers were taken to the hospital as a precaution. The corps members were safely sent on to the corps housing site.

Those seeking more information about this incident should contact the Glassmen.

It shold be noted that the 5 ambulances were AUTOMATICALLY dispatched as it was a bus involved. It is not clear if 5 ambulances were in fact needed.

This is gonna be a big time thread here. Let's remember that there are about 150 sets of parents that may not know anything about this so let's be real careful to keep to the facts only. This may be the first they have heard of this incident. Anything off topic or offensive will be dealt with swiftly and harshly.

Volunteer Bus in Accident

Friday, 26 June 2009

Shortly before 7am this morning, the GLASSMEN Volunteer bus (851) was involved in an accident with a tractor trailer coming out of a service plaza. At this time, it appears that the bus driver was the only one to sustain injuries, but as a precautionary measure three volunteers were also taken to be checked out. No other GLASSMEN vehicles or personnel were involved with this incident.

All members, staff and remaining volunteers are fine, and on their way to the housing site.

More details to follow.
